FBI Director Kash Patel says agency will relocate 1,500 agents out of DC

The FBI director Cash Patel explains the latest plans for the Federal Investigation Office during an interview with Maria Bartopiromo, adding “Sunday morning Morning.”
The FBI director, Cash Patel, examined his plans to transfer about 1500 agents from the headquarters of the law Enforcement Agency in Washington, DC
In an excerpt from an exclusive interview with “Sunday Morning Futures”, which will be broadcast on Sunday, Patel said that the agency is re -allocating the workforce across the country by removing these agents from the J. Edgar Hoover building, which opened in 1975.
“The FBI leaves this Hoover building because this building is not safe for our working power and we want … for American men and women to know, if you will come to work in the law enforcement agency in the world, we will offer you a building that suits you, and this is not this place.”

“See, the FBI is 38,000 when we are completely listed, which we are not.” This is like a third of the workforce. A third of the crime happens here, so we take 1500 of these people and transfer them. “
He added: “Every state gets a plus, and I think that when we do things like this, we inspire people in America to become analysts and agents Intel and say:” We want to go to work in the FBI because we want to fight violence crimes, and we want to send to the country to do so. “This is what we do in the three, six or nine months we will do so hard.”

The FBI and Public Services Administration (GSA) is looking for the options of the new FBI headquarters for more than a decade, including locations near the capital in Maryland and Virginia.
In late 2023, GSA chose a site in Greenbelt, Maryland, could be the main headquarters, as the FBI got a smaller facility in the center of the capital city that could accommodate between 750 to 1,000 employees. The selection pushing the concerns related to the interests raised by Christopher Ray, the then -then -FBI manager, as well as other issues on whether the site selection criteria have been followed.

GSA Inspector General issued a report in February and found that the logical basis of GSA to increase the weights of one of the five standards that were unjustified, while the report also referred to inaccurate cost estimates and the lack of information about the site in the selection review package.
The review did not find any conflict of interests, although it also closed GSA officials for not maintaining text messages records related to the discussions of the FBI project.
