Air India flight to London carrying 242 people crashes in Ahmedabad

Air flight to London Gatwick in Ahmed Abad in western India was briefly crashed, with 242 people on board.

Air India said that those in the Boeing 787-8 plane, including 169 Indian citizens, as well as 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese and one Canadian. There were also 10 crew of the cabin and two pilots.

The Indian aviation organizer said the plane made a Mayday call to monitor air traffic “but then no response was provided by the ATC calls.”

Ahmed Abad Airport was closed later.

UK Prime Minister Sir Kerr Starmer wrote on Thursday: “The scenes of a plane in London, which carries many British citizens who are disrupted in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, is destroyed.”

He added: “My thoughts with passengers and their families at this very sad time.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “The tragedy was astonished in Ahmed Abad and our sadness. It is sad behind the words,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
