Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Mali midfielder Youssouf Sissoko from Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The 23-year-old midfielder has performed well for the Israeli side and could be an excellent addition for Leeds United. They need more quality and depth in midfield, and Sissoko would be a fantastic signing.

“It’s an interesting link, I don’t think there’s a lot we know about Sissoko really,” Pete O’Rourke said on football Insider.

“He was playing in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He played in the Champions League qualifiers, the Europa League as well. So he has a good European pedigree.

“I think obviously, as I said, people might be surprised that Leeds are in the market for midfielders because I think their midfielder has been OK this season.

“They got it [Ethan] Ampadu is there, and summer signings Anton Stache and Sean Longstaff have certainly made a big impact in midfield.

“Cissoko is probably one of the options put forward to Leeds and could be good value for money in that regard. He has 18 months left on his contract.

“As I said, Leeds are clearly monitoring him. So let’s see if they follow up and increase their interest.”

Sissoko would be a strong option

He has the physical ability to succeed in English football and can help Leeds United improve. They have looked very weak defensively, and they need a reliable defensive midfielder to help them tighten up in defence. The 23-year-old midfielder will protect the back and allow creative players to operate with more freedom.

The opportunity to join Leeds United would be very exciting for the midfielder as well. It will be a big step in his career, and he will test himself in the Premier League. A move from Israel to England would be a huge upgrade for the player.

There is no doubt that he has the quality to perform well in English football, and it remains to be seen whether Leeds will be able to sign him in January.

They will be hoping to establish themselves as regular players in the Premier League, and need to fill the holes in their squad in January. They have had a poor start to the season, and they will be looking to come back strong. Signing quality players mid-season can help them get back on track.

The 23-year-old midfielder will look to make an immediate impact in the Premier League if the transfer goes through.
