president Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a historic summit on Friday in Alaska.

On Friday morning, the President will travel to Anaska, Alaska, and is somewhat equal to Washington, DC and Moscow. The United States bought Alaska from Russia in 1867.

The high risk meeting is the first US summit for Russia since June 2021, which was under the management of former President Joe Biden. That summit came just eight months before Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

What we know about Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska

Trump described the talks as a “feeling of feeling”, and he made it clear that his maximum priority would be to determine whether the ceasefire in Ukraine is possible. Trump expected earlier this week that he would be able to take this design in the first two “minutes”.

“I will not conclude a deal. It is no longer for me to conclude a deal,” Trump said. “I think a deal should be made for (Putin and Ukrainian President Voludmir Zelinski).”

“I would like to see the ceasefire,” Trump continued. “I would like to see the best deal that can be made for both parties. You know, it takes two to Tango.”

However, the president threatened “very serious consequences” to Russia if Putin did not agree to end the war after Friday’s meeting. In addition, while all the eyes at the top between Trump and Putin, Trump said, “The most important meeting will be the second meeting we face.”

“We will hold a meeting with President Putin, President Zellinski and myself, and perhaps we will attend some European leaders – perhaps not … it will be very important.”

“We will see what is happening,” Trump continued. “I think President Putin will make peace.”

On the day before the summit, Trump expected that his meeting with Putin would be a 25 % chance of failure, but he said that hope is to pressure a second meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelinsky.

“This meeting places the second meeting,” Trump Brian Celid said, adding that the second meeting will be “very important,” and suggested that there will be negotiations on land bodies, an idea that Zelinski opposes.

Can Trump’s meeting with Putin be the next moment of Reagan Gorbachev?

Zelenskyy is not part of Friday’s top. White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said Trump was approved to the meeting at the request of Putin.

“The aim of this meeting for the president is to stay away from a better understanding of how this war is ended,” Levitte told a White House press conference. “I think the President of the United States is entering the room with the President of Russia, sitting face to face instead of speaking over the phone will give this president the best indication of how to end this war and the place of this.”

However, Zelenskyy emphasized that any decisions to end the war taken without Ukraine will be impossible.

Zelinski has repeatedly said he was open to Putin’s direct meeting to end the war, although Putin has refused so far.

Putin praises Trump’s “sincere” peace efforts, and refers to the United States and the United States nuclear deal

“Any decisions against us, i.e. decisions taken without Ukraine – are simultaneously decisions against peace,” Zelinski said in a statement on Saturday. “These are dead decisions; it will never work. What we all need is a real peace, people will respect.”

However, recently on Wednesday, Zelenskyy said that there is no “sign” that Russia is preparing to end the war.

The Ukrainian leader wrote on Wednesday, saying: “This war must end. Pressure on Russia for a just peace. Ukraine and our partners must be used to prevent deception by Russia.”

“At the present time, there is no sign that the Russians are preparing to end the war,” he added. “Our coordinated efforts and joint procedures – for Ukraine, the United States, Europe and all countries that seek peace – can certainly force Russia to peace.”

Zelenskyy also wrote on X recently, “The path of peace must be determined to Ukraine with Ukraine – this is essential.”

He also said: “It is important that joint approaches work and make a common vision towards a real peace. A unified position.

Zelinski also said this week that he discussed the possibility of holding high -level talks organized by Turkey, which hosted previous diplomatic negotiations that failed to secure any permanent ceasefire agreements, but launched thousands of secrets of the Ukrainian and Russian war.

“We are ready for any form of a meeting that aims to stop the killings and end the war,” Zilinxse said. “President Erdogan affirmed his country’s readiness to organize the Summit of Ukraine, the United States, Russia and Turkey.”

Nevertheless, Putin praised Trump to start “sincere efforts” to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, saying that the United States was making “very active and honest efforts to stop hostilities, stop the crisis and reach important agreements for all parties participating in this conflict.”

According to Putin, “agreements in the field of controlling strategic offensive weapons.”

Russia and the United States have the largest nuclear weapons arsenal and have a treaty that limits the number of weapons it may possess, which is scheduled to end in February, adding more pressure on the upcoming talks. The new strategic weapons reference covers strategic nuclear weapons and the number of warheads published at 1550 stops on each side, according to Reuters.

There has been already some nuclear tension between the two countries in recent weeks, as Trump has ordered nuclear divers to approach Russia after the former president of the country made “very provocative statements.” He reduced the Kremlin of this step but warned all parties to be “very careful” about the nuclear discourse, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, reporters pressed Trump on Thursday, a day before the summit, regarding whether his approval of Putin’s interview might end with the “reward” of the Russian president to invade Ukraine.

Trump mocked the question, and said: “No, I don’t think it is a reward.”

“What we have is a situation that should never start – it should have never started,” Trump said. “It did not start under me. For four years, it was not discussed. I saw that it would happen. After leaving, I was able to see what was happening. All we did was wrong, all that was done was wrong. Everyone blames. Putin is responsible. They are all blame.”

“This war never happened when I was president. If you were president, this war will never happen,” Trump continued. “But millions of people have been killed, and I am there for one reason: to find out if I can solve this. This was Biden’s war.”
