Amazon’s Echo will send all voice recordings to the cloud, starting March 28

Amazon Echo users will not have the option to handle their Alexa requests locally, which means that all their audio recordings will be sent to the company’s cloud.

Ars Technica reported that on Friday, Amazon sent an email to customers who “do not send audio recordings” capable of loudspeakers and offers in Echo, saying that the company will stop supporting the privacy enhancement feature on March 28.

“As we continue to expand the capabilities of Alexa through the AI’s generation features that depend on the treatment power of the Amazon Secure cloud, we decided to support this feature,” the email said.

This comes at a time when Amazon introduces a new version of sound -dominated artificial intelligence, now known as Alexa+. Consumers and organizers raised concerns about the effects of Alexa’s privacy in the past, with Amazon’s approval to pay $ 25 million in a settlement of 2023 with the Federal Trade Committee on the privacy of children.
