American Petroleum Institute President and CEO Mike Sommers reveals contents of Trump’s closed-door meeting with oil industry leaders

Mike Somers, CEO of Oil Company, said President Donald Trump has a multi -faceted plan to restore US energy dominance four years after the Biden administration, giving the fossil fuel industry a cold shoulder.

The head of the American Petroleum Institute and CEO was among the 15 industry leaders present at the White House meeting closed with Trump this week.

“The president said we have an opportunity to open some of these federal lands and federal waters that were bound by the Biden administration. It will be quick to obtain permits for LNG stations, and really focus on making sure that the United States has the energy it needs to operate the future, especially as we see AI on the Internet,” shared.

“We will need more energy, and this means a lot of oil and natural gas.”

Somers has warned that failure to invest in local fossil fuel production could lead to the United States losing an artificial intelligence race with China because multiple forms of energy are necessary to keep pace with artificial intelligence databases.

“We will need all of this. We need oil, need gas, and we will need coal,” he said.

The Trump administration agreed to request the LNG permit on Wednesday, allowing the CP2 LNG project from Venture Global to export natural gas from Louisiana.
