Trump admin cuts $4M in Princeton funding related to climate research

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Commerce announced its decision to reduce $ 4 million of financing related to the Climate Research of Princeton University.

“After a detailed, accurate and comprehensive review of the administration’s financial assistance programs against the objectives of the current program for ocean and atmosphere (Noaa),” the Minister of Commerce, Howard Lottennik, said in a press release.

The administration added that ending these funds from Princeton, starting from June 30, “will simplify and reduce the cost and size of the federal government, in line with president Trump’s promise to manage him. The Ministry of Trade meets this promise.”

Princeton received $ 455 million of federal funding during the 2024 fiscal year.

The administration said that the financial prizes previously granted to Princeton through NOAA, including the Cooperative Institute for the Model of the Earth System (CIMES), “are no longer compatible with the goals of the NOAA program, a sub -agency of the Ministry of Trade, and are no longer in line with the priorities of the Trump administration.”

Princeton did not immediately respond to an inquiry from Fox News Digital.

CIMES states that the program “contributed to developing ocean models and atmosphere, and conducted research on climate and biological biological cycling and teaching several generations of researchers after PhD and graduate students.”

However, the Ministry of Commerce said that the CIMES Agreement “enhances the threats of exaggerated and unreasonable climate, which contributes to a phenomenon known as” climate anxiety “, which has increased significantly among the youth of America.”

The administration also stated that the climate risks and an interactive agreement for the season to two seasons “indicate that the land will have great fluctuations in its availability of water as a result of global warming”, and the advanced prediction agreement “has used its resources to assess the risks associated with climate change, including alleged changes in translation patterns and high sea level,” according to the launch.
