Archaeologists find ‘creepy’ puppets at top of El Salvador pyramid

Archaeologists who were digging in Central America recently discovered 2,400 -year -old mud dolls in an unexpected place.
The discoveries, which were found at the head of the El Salvador pyramid in San Issidro, were published in an article entitled “Dolls and brides: prior mud statues from San Issidro, El Salvador” on March 5.
Pictures show dolls with exotic open face expressions. The largest dolls in the group are around a long foot, and they are “naked and free of hair or jewelry”, while the youngest “is designed similar to the hair on its forehead and ear in the lobes,” according to the study.
The researchers decided that the artifacts were dolls due to the holes in their heads, which could suit the chain easily.

The study argues that these statues have served a variety of purposes, including “existence, effectively, Marionite or dolls in re -legislation of some scenes, fixed and dynamic.”

Although researchers are not clear on how to use dolls exactly, the pyramid digging is still continuing – and archaeologists are still looking for answers.
