Archer Aviation, United Airlines to create air taxi network in NY

An increasing number of companies replace traditional airport transportation, such as cold riding, taxis, and trains with flying taxi services.

One of them announced, Archer Aviation, on Thursday that it is developing a taxi network in New York City in partnership with UNITED Airlines.

The goal of the service is to transport passengers to their flights within minutes through the electric air taxi, midnight. Midnight is designed in the company’s manufacturing facilities in San Jose, California and Covengtton, Georgia, to provide four passengers, who will eventually be able to reserve these air taxi flights as an addition to regular airline tickets or through the Artcher application, according to the founder and director of the CEO Adam Goldstein.

Initially, the service will be more expensive and targeted for first -class travelers and first -class travelers from nearby airports. However, the long -term goal is to make it affordable enough for the daily passengers to use it regularly, and perhaps replace the car riding to and from the airport.

The Archer Aviation rated, which was established in 2018, and was publicly taken after three years, is $ 3.94 billion. Conventions have already signed with the main airports in the region, including John F. Kennedy International, La Gardadia Airport and Newark Airport, in addition to three aircraft of aircraft in the city and regional airports such as Wimshester County Airport, Titroro Airport and the Republic Airport.

The company previously announced plans to create air car networks in Los Angeles and San Francisco, which is currently in the final stages to secure the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

In an interview with Fox Business, Goldstein revealed that Artcher aims to launch trade operations early this year in Abu Dhabi, with the launch of New York City targeting 2026, pending organizational approval that comes with high standards.

Goldstein said his motivation behind the plane was to help modernize urban transport. He pointed out that the population grew in cities like New York, but “the way we move is really worse.”

“I mean, the metro started in the fifties, and today there are not many new solutions,” he said.

While helicopters offer one option, Goldstein indicated that they come with great defects: it is difficult to expand its scope, less reliable and constitute safety and noise concerns.

He believes that they will be replaced with safer and quieter vehicles, “and he is preparing for Artecher in the middle of the night to be one of them.

According to Goldstein, the helicopter will usually get 200 to 300 points of failure, but once you go electric, you can add a level of repetition that you cannot get in a piston or combustion engine.

He said that the Archer plane is designed to eliminate many risks associated with traditional helicopters due to the entire electrical payment system, which is characterized by less mobile parts, there is no combustion engine or gearbox.

Instead of one main roundabout, the Archer plane has 12 separate fans, which means that it can continue to fly even when the engine or fan does not work.

According to Goldstein, the digital flight control system also helps prevent any matter or maneuver that may damage the plane. Its fixed wings allow slipping up to 20 miles, which Goldstein said Goldstein provides an additional layer of safety that is not usually present in the rotor. That is why he said he is not concerned about the strict standards.

In a comment on Fox Business, Goldstein said, “Yes, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has laid the standards of the safety of the higher aircraft certificates for our plane than traditional light helicopters and light aircraft. The beauty of our aircraft is that we have excessive systems that enable us to achieve these higher safety standards.”

It is a similar commercial model for Joby Aviation, which works simultaneously in partnership with Delta Air Lines and Uber to develop their electric taxis that the public will be able to reach daily.

However, while Joby and Archer are electricity takeoff companies, aircraft designs and their manufacturing strategies are different.

For example, while Joby uses a six -cycle composition with fans tilt, Archer uses a 12 -floor design with fixed wings. Joby also develops many ingredients at home while Archer uses traditional space suppliers.
