Arsenal have the new Saka & he’s already one of the best “in world football”

It may still be early in the season, but Arsenal look like a scary proposition at the moment.

Mikel Arteta’s side are flying at the top of the Premier League table and remain unbeaten in the Champions League with three wins from three.

Although not all victories were certain, the defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night certainly was, and for a man, the Gunners were exceptional.

Furthermore, although he did not feature in goal, Bukayo Saka was once again a major threat and, in more encouraging signs, one of the key players was beginning to show shades of the talisman in his game.

Saka’s start for the season

Last season was a strange one for Saka and Arsenal as a whole. Although he missed almost four months of football due to a hamstring injury and subsequent surgery, the Hill End phenomenon still notched 12 goals and 14 assists in 37 appearances for the team.

It was also clear that at the end of the season, he still lacked the athleticism and sharpness that would help make him a world-class talent.

Fortunately, although he was still lacking at the start of this season, he was able to open his account with a brilliant goal at home to Leeds United in the second round.

However, as if he hasn’t dealt with enough bad luck over the past year or so, he also suffered another hamstring injury in that game.

This led to him spending a few more weeks on the sidelines before returning to the fray in the second half against Manchester City last month.

This setback has undoubtedly led to him becoming a bit rusty over the last few weeks, but nonetheless, his immense talent has seen him remain the most dangerous striker in Arteta’s squad.

Furthermore, he has started to look nowhere near his best again over the last week or so, and the difference has been quite evident, as although he did not score or assist against Fulham on Saturday, he was a major threat, achieving an expected figure of 0.55 assists and playing seven key passes.

And then, while not quite as impressive on Tuesday, it still looked like the most realistic route for Arsenal to score goals for most of the first 45, with former pro turned pundit Paul Merson claiming he was “on the toast” of the Spanish side at some points.

Overall, although he has not yet reached his peak, Saka is undoubtedly Arsenal’s most important player and talisman, so it is very exciting to see another player starting to show shades of his game on his own.

The Arsenal star imitates Saka

You can really take your pick when it comes to Arsenal’s standout players on Tuesday.

Declan Rice was on point again with his passing, Victor Geukeris scored twice and Gabriel Magalhaes did the best he could.

However, the starter who once again showed some Saka-esque qualities in his game was Miles Lewis Skelly.

The young Englishman has made his third start of the season and has shot more than Arteta, but what has he shown in his game that is shades of his teammate Hill Ender?

Well, perhaps the most important thing is his ability to attract opposition players towards him, and then easily pass them to create a promising attacking position for the team.

And that’s exactly what he did with the second goal of the night, when he took five players out of the game with a stunning run from the middle of the pitch before passing the ball to Gabriel Martinelli.

However, there are more similarities between the two academic gems than that.

For example, while you can’t describe either of them as particularly towering or imposing, they are both fighters, much stronger than they seem and capable of being a bit nasty in the most complimentary of ways.

Furthermore, the 19-year-old is also technically impressive, as in addition to his close control, he has a left-footed stick, which has seen him register some assists since his debut.

With all that in mind, it’s not hard to see why one analyst described the youngster as one of the best talents “in world football” on Tuesday night.

Ultimately, there is still a long way to go before Lewis Skelly reaches his peak, but as it stands, he is already an outrageous talent and shares more than a few traits with Saka.
