Britain, France and Germany will hold talks with Iran on Friday in a batch to prevent the escalation of its conflict with Israel, after Donald Trump said he would decide “during the next two weeks” whether the United States will enter the war.

The meeting in Geneva will be the first high -level diplomacy face to face with Tehran since Israel launched its attacks on Iran a week ago.

A statement from Trump on Thursday follows that there may be new talks with Iran in the “near future”.

Trump’s statement seemed to indicate that his decision was slowing over the entry of the war, even as American military origins were sent to the area amid fears of an imminent escalation.

“Based on the fact that there is a great opportunity for negotiations that may take place or do not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether I will go within the next two weeks,” the president said in a statement read by the White House press secretary Caroline Levitte on Thursday.

Levitte also said that the United States has been open to its negotiations with Tehran within days of the exchange of missiles between Iran and Israel. In response to a question about whether Trump Steve Wittouf is in contact with Iranian officials, Levit said.

Brent Futures Futures, the international oil standard, fell 2.4 percent in Asian trading on Friday to $ 76.96 a barrel. West Texas, the American standard, decreased by 2.5 percent to $ 73.72 a barrel. Haven’s assets decreased, as gold prices fell 0.6 percent to $ 3350 an ounce of TRY and Dollar USPRATED 0.3 percent against a basket of its main commercial partners.

The comments came from the United States seven days after the conflict, which began when Israel launched an attack on Iran in what he said was an attempt to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

The United States helped Israel shoot down the Iranian missiles, which fired its ally, with speculation that Trump was preparing to declare the bombing raids to strike the Iranian nuclear facility.

David Petraius, retired general who led the CIA and the Central Command, said the decision to wait two weeks was a “good call.” He said he would give more time to the second American aircraft carrier, USS NIMITZ, to move from the Indian and Pacific region to the Middle East.

“There are other measures they may want to take, such as moving more air and ballistic defense [systems] In its position, make sure that all the munitions are in place and also do some rehearsals.

The assembly in Geneva with the Iranian Abbas Aragchi is a revival of the coordination of “E3”, according to which Britain, France and Germany-European signature to a 2015 nuclear agreement signed with global powers-sought to resolve the country with the West.

The aim of the meeting will be to agree to a framework to restart the nuclear program for Iran, but with international observers give an unrestricted access to facilities. Another discussion will be whether Iran will be ready to adhere to cutting out the ballistic missile stocks.

A crisis erupted about the Iranian nuclear program after Trump withdrew from one side of the agreement in 2018. Tehran was reported by expanding his activity and was enricging uranium at levels close to the degree of weapons, although it says that its nuclear program is dedicated to civil purposes.

The Trump administration held five rounds of indirect talks with Iran before the diplomatic operation by Israel, which launched its strikes on Friday – days before the sixth round of negotiations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who opposes diplomatic efforts, said he launched the war to prevent Tehran nuclear weapons.

“The negotiation today is still the only way to achieve a permanent decline in the Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile program,” French Foreign Minister Jean -Noel Barrot told reporters on Thursday.

E3, who was strongly participating in the efforts made with the Biden Administration to revive the 2015 agreement, was significantly marginalized by Trump as he sought to pressure Iran in a new deal.

UK Foreign Minister David Lami is expected to deliver a message to Iran from the United States that the road to a diplomatic solution is still possible.

“It is better to deal with negotiations through conflict … the risk of escalation throughout the region is clear,” said Sir Kerr Starmer Prime Minister in the Kingdom.

It was presented by Aime Williams in Washington, George Parker and David Shepard in London, Lila Abboud in Paris and Najmeh Bozorgehr in Tehran
