BCCI to receive Asia Cup trophy in 48 hours; if not, Mohsin Naqvi could face ICC action

Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia has given a new update on the 2025 Asia Cup trophy and revealed when it will be officially handed over to the Indian team.

Devajit Saikia said they hope to get the 2025 Asia Cup trophy “within a day or two”, and if that does not happen, the matter will be taken to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Yes, we are a little dissatisfied with the way the trophy was not delivered to us – BCCI Secretary

India showed their absolute dominance in the 2025 Asia Cup and although they did not play perfect cricket, they brutally thrashed the Pakistanis and showed them their place in world cricket.

After destroying Pakistan in the final and winning the 2025 Asia Cup, India refused to receive the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, PCB Chairman and ACC Chairman. This was due to his disgusting statements about India.

Mohsin Naqvi was humiliated in front of the whole world and faced severe booing from the fans after the Asian Cup final. After feeling embarrassed, he stole the India Cup and ran away with it. He also kept the Asia Cup trophy in his custody and did not return it to India, stating that the Indian player needed to collect it from him personally in a proper ceremony.

It has been just a month since the conclusion of the Asia Cup, and India is yet to get the trophy. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia admitted that they were not satisfied with the way things had developed.

“Yes, we are a little unhappy with the way the trophy has not been handed over to us even after a month,” BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI Video.

“We are monitoring the matter. About 10 days ago, we wrote a letter to the ACC president, but there has been no change in their position.

“They still have the trophy in their custody, but we hope it will reach the BCCI office in Mumbai within a day or two.”

On behalf of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we are fully prepared to deal with this matter – Devajit Saikia

Devajit Saikia also said that they are fully prepared to deal with the matter and if they do not get the trophy, they will take the matter to the ICC meeting in Dubai, which will start on November 4.

Saikia said: “On behalf of the BCCI, we are fully prepared to deal with the matter and I can assure the people of India that the trophy will return to India – just the timeline is not set. It will come one day.”

“We won all the matches against Pakistan and won the trophy. We are the champions. It’s all on record – just the trophy missing. I hope common sense prevails.”

Therefore, there may be an exchange of sessions – Devajit Saikia

While speaking about the second Test match of the series between India and South Africa in Guwahati, which is likely to witness a tea break before lunch, Devajit Saikia said:

“The process is ongoing because the eastern part of the country experiences earlier sunrises and sunsets. To accommodate six hours of play per day, it is necessary to make some timing changes. If the start time of the match is brought forward, it may no longer correspond to the usual lunch hour.

He added, “So there may be an exchange of sessions. I don’t think that will be a big problem, but the process is still ongoing and has not been completed yet.”
