Labor Secretary: H-2A visa program to be faster, more affordable for farmers

Labor Minister Lori Chavez-Tremer said that the H-2a immigrant visa program is unified according to its department allows American farmers and livestock to reach the workforce they need, noting that the program will now be faster and more affordable.

In an exclusive interview with Edward Lawrence “Fox Business”, Al -Amin said that the program – which allows agricultural employers to temporarily employ foreign workers – is not expanded and will not be allowed to pardon illegal immigrants.

“The program is already playing, and it is already in the law,” she said. “It is something that congress has already decided that we must happen to our migrant agricultural workers so that American farmers and farmers can reach the workforce they need.”

“But the only thing that has not been done is how quickly the program is running,” she added, adding that the farmers who spoke to them are not sure when and where they will get the workers they need, and if they will get them when they need it.

“I wanted to make sure that this program has become a really comprehensive program in what is already existing, and what is the law. So it is not an amnesty program. It is not even a new program. It will be better, faster and more affordable.”

Chavez-Terider indicated that the program will now be presented under the supervision of the Ministry of Labor, while it is currently subject to work departments, internal security and states.

“This will be one store,” she said. “Therefore, the immigration policy office under the Ministry of Labor will be in the minister’s office. So that we can monitor this and provide the concrete service to farmers and our educators throughout this country.”

Al -Amin emphasized that the update “is not an expansion of anything” and aims to ensure the work of the existing program.

When I was asked if there were sufficient visas for the necessary agricultural workers, she said that Congress was “dealing with numbers” but “we will never displace the American worker.”

“We want to make sure we have American workers there,” she said. “But if we do not have these at that time, we want to follow the law and help Congress. If they want to, choose to change these numbers, it is up to them. But we will provide them with the information they need from the Ministry of Labor.”

Chavez-Seridal was also asked why she believed that the number of workers born in indigenous newly born, and the number of workers born abroad decreased by 543,000 since President Donald Trump returned to his post.

“This is exactly the president’s agenda. Focus on the American worker, while ensuring that they come first, the first policy of America,” she said.

The Secretary also dealt with its role in a suspended executive order that directs the Ministry of Labor, the Securities Committee and the Stock Exchange to provide instructions for employers and plan officials to include investments and private assets in 401 plans (K).
