Bilfinger UK wins contract to maintain the National Transmission System

Bilfinger UK has a large contract with National GAS to ensure the continuous flow of gas through the NTS pipelines (NTS).

This project is expected to generate up to 100 employment opportunities, as the UK Bilfinger works as a main designer and a contractor in decisive sites.

Strategic compressors along NTS are necessary to maintain gas flow. These stations, equipped with multiple compressor units, press and push the gas through the network at speeds of 25 mph (40 km/h).

The control system, supported by the Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets (OffGem), will witness the Bilfinger UK company, a comprehensive design and construction program, including painting and manufacturing design, while achieving the role of the main contractor to ensure high safety and performance standards.

After two -year participation in front engineering design work, Bilfinger UK will now start a three -year later program. The contract includes a two -stage approach, focusing on the participation of the contractor.

Bilfinger’s engineering, automation and production departments will contribute to their experience in providing comprehensive solutions.

“This contract is a testament to our successful cooperation with the national GAS and our willingness to the project forward in design, construction and detailed assignment. By using resources from our engineering teams, automation and productivity, we are well equipped to provide comprehensive solutions that meet the highest safety and performance standards.”

“Our partnership with National GAS reflects our commitment to innovation, efficiency and sustainability and we look forward to continuing our cooperation to face the challenges of Net Zero.”

The basic design team, stationed at the Bilfinger UK headquarters in Warrington, will cooperate with his colleagues in Chesterfield, Saint Helen and on the site.

During the design stage, the team will consist of 40 to 50 people, and expands up to 100 during the peak construction period.

In February 2024, Balfinger received a similar contract with INEOS FPS, which extends three years, to provide maintenance services for the FPS in the 1940s in Scotland, with an additional two -year option.

As of January 2024, this agreement continues a partnership that extends for more than ten years, with the aim of guaranteeing the FPS reliability and its length, which is vital to transporting and treating gas in the North Sea.

The contract will support both wild and external facilities within the 169 km pipeline system.
