Bluesky daily active users fall sharply following Trump election victory

According to a Forbes report published on November 7, Bluesky’s daily active users declined sharply after President Donald Trump won the 2024 election, while its Truth Social platform saw modest gains over the same period.

“The number of Bluesky’s daily active users on mobile devices worldwide fell 39.8% year over year as of the end of October, according to data from Sameweb, a digital market intelligence firm, a much steeper decline than other major social networks over the same period,” the outlet reported.

During the same period, similar data showed that Truth Social increased its average daily users on mobile devices by 32%, though Forbes noted that activity varies widely from month to month and tends to spike when Trump posts a major announcement on the platform.

Bluesky, a social media platform created by Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, saw a surge in users after the election of President Donald Trump in 2024, with many of them fleeing the X to escape conservative votes. Dorsey resigned from Bluesky’s board of directors last year.

Although the rise in usage looked promising, the number of daily active users on Bluesky declined steadily throughout 2025. Some in the press argued that the app’s left-wing rhetoric and lack of the same level of “jokes” and memes had limited its growth.

As noted in a Forbes report, a December 2024 New York Times Magazine article claimed that despite the post-election boom, the platform has not been able to become as “powerful (read: fun)” as X, where “jokes and ideas are more polished” and users have access to “more up-to-the-minute analysis” of news and cultural moments.

The report also referenced an article from Wired titled “Bluesky Can’t Take a Joke” in which the reporter similarly pointed out the perceived humor gap between X and Bluesky.

In June, billionaire Mark Cuban criticized Bluesky as increasingly toxic and “obnoxious” because of the hostility shown there.

In a series of recent posts by Bluesky, the Business tycoon He lamented that the people on the platform — mostly liberals — “have become more rude and more hateful.”

“Even if you agree with 95% of what someone says on a topic, if there is one point that you can describe as a gray area, they will call you a fascist and so on.” Cuban wrote.

Bluesky did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
