Ford Foundation president Darren Walker joins Obama Foundation board

president Barack Obama charitable Foundation hired the outgoing president for Ford Foundation on Monday.

Darren Walker, who was already ready to leave the Ford Foundation, will join the Obama Board of Directors from November. He has worked with Ford Foundation since 2013.

“Darren Walker is a great example of what he means to lead a goal in charitable works,” Obama said in a statement. “Darren’s work to challenge the long assumptions, find out injustice, and build unlikely partnerships is completely compatible with the Obama Foundation’s mission.”

He added: “His experience and vision will increase our thinking and deepen our influence, as we help the next generation to change their world for the better.”

The former president leads the Obama Foundation alongside his wife, Michelle Obama. Its declared goals are to enhance democracy and promote “active nationality spirit”.

Walker said of his new role: “joining the Obama Foundation’s council seems to be like a return to all that I believe about about leadership and change,” Walker said of his new role. “I believe deeply in the strength of individuals in changing the world, and I am honored to work with the president and Mrs. Obama to help enable and support the next generation of change makers.”

Obama’s CEO of Obama also praised Walker’s arrival pending his arrival.

“What distinguishes Darren is his deep faith near – that real progress comes from listening and investing in those closest to the challenge,” Jarrett said in a statement.

She added: “Whether he is working with the organizers at the level of al -Qaeda or re -imagining how global institutions spread capital, Darren’s leadership has always been based on sympathy, integrity and trust. These values are essential in our mission, and we are happy with the presence of his wisdom and partnership in our team.”

The Obama Presidential Center was in a sub -contracting center from the subcontractor, and accused an engineering company of racial discrimination.

The center is scheduled to open in 2026.
