BougeRV’s portable solar fridge is quietly annoying

All my tests were conducted at the recommended FDA temperatures of -18 ° C (0 degrees Fahrenheit) for the freezer and 4C (39f) for the refrigerator. The slowdown from room temperature 22C (72f) to 4C took 17 minutes for the small cabin, or 37 minutes for the large. It took 79 minutes to bring the small space to -18 ° C and 101 minutes for the large side. This is very slow, but CRD2 40 is also reasonable.

At the top, I measured 38 decibels while slowing, making it loud like a small home theater show. This is much lower than Bougerv 45DB quotes on the specifications sheet (perhaps the largest CRD2 models are more noisy?) To test my insulation, I brought the large cabin to -18C and closed the energy. After one hour, I already read -4C, 0C after an hour and a half, and 10C in three hours in a 22C room. I never opened the cover. This is not very good compared to other portable refrigerators and indicates that this refrigerator will have to work hard in warmer climate to keep your food safe.

The temperature readings were on the Bougerv screen and its application was consistent with the reference thermometer in the smaller cabin. However, my thermometer read -14C, not -18C that Bougerv has reported, when placed at the bottom of the large cabin. This is likely to be related to the mode of Bougerv sensor and the typical weak air cycle of this group of refrigerators.

Therefore, Bougerv gets all important things correctly, but I was disappointed that the company was not interested in details and the general lack of care.

For beginners, the Bluetooth application is called the limited simplification “L” and “R” (left and right?) Instead of “L” and “S” for the big and small, as you see printed on the refrigerator. It also lacks accuracy when reporting the battery percentage, which indicates five of five tapes, for example, when the LED screen displays only the same battery only two of four LED lights, or about 50 percent charged.

And get this: The instructions booklet warns of “due to the various production batches, you may receive a battery with or without a C.” What?! My review unit has arrived with a battery with a small barrel, not a preferred USB-C socket. This means that it can only be shipped inside the same refrigerator because I did not receive a coincided charger in the box. I read -22C on the physical screen, but my thermometer has decreased along the way to -29C. Initially, I thought it might be another condition for a bad sensor like those with which some ancient Ecoflow refrigerators were afflicted. But connecting the refrigerator again caused the temperature to decrease quickly to -18 ° C, and I have not seen any problems since then. strange. Bougerv did not have a timely ready explanation for this review. The refrigerator is covered with a two -year guarantee.

Sleeping near Bougerv’s refrigerator – as with Vanlifers and drunk fishermen – is also a mixed bag. On the one hand, it is reasonably calm. However, it will make a sound several times if the Bluetooth connection is lost. This has already woke me twice, although my phone is near the refrigerator. Even with all my handles, Bougerv worth $ 509.99 CRD2 40 with a battery package makes a good travel companion, especially in the very mobile size (43 quarter) that I reviewed. However, I will avoid the battery -free model at $ 349.99 because you can easily find a more compact and less expensive refrigerator that can be permanently connected to a 12 -volt power source in a fixed location.
