BowFlex dumbbells recalled after weight plates dislodge, causing injuries

A group of dumbbells once sold in Costco is now under recall.

Johnson Health Tech Trading and Consumer Product Safety (CPSC) released the voluntary summons of BOWFLEX 552 Dummbells on Thursday “due to reports that weight panels can calm down from the handle during use, which is raised at the risk of influence.”

Along with Dummbells – which was sold at Costco, Best Buy and Dick’s Sporting Goods, and online through Amazon and BOWFLEX – CPSC says that Rowflex 1090 DumbBells is also affected.

Nearly 4 million units participate in the recall, according to CPSC. A full list of models and serial numbers can be found here.

A statement told CPSC: “BOWFLEX Inc. bankruptcy protection in March 2024,” a statement told CPSC. “Johnson Health TECH Trading agreed to provide a treatment to Blbel 552 and 1090 modified by Bowflex Inc., (previously Nautilus Inc.), before May 2024 as part of this summons.”

To date, Johnson Health Tecing and Nautilus has received more than 350 reports of ski plates, which led to at least 111 injuries “such as concussion, prize, broken foot fingers or objects.”

Costco 552 should stop using it directly before returning them to a complete recovery store. Consumers who buy Dummbells from other retailers called for the contact team for the Johnson Health Tech Teches at 800-209-3539 from 8 am to 7 pm CT from Monday to Friday or Remest@bowflex.com.

A statement told CPSC: “For the units sold by BOWFLEX Inc. (previously NAUTILUS Inc.), consumers can request the recovery of money in the form of a contradictory voucher and membership of JRNY Digital Fitness for one year,” a statement told CPSC.
