Home Alone Becomes a Horror Comedy In This Twisted Thriller
Written by Chris Snellgrove | Published
These days, it has become common for studios to release horror films based on familiar film concepts, e.g Happy death day Being a send-up of a slasher Groundhog Day and terrible Being a scary version of Freaky Friday. These movies can be fun, but they’re at their best when they manage to add something new to the formula they’re imitating.
Perhaps the best example of this is Better watch outA horror movie starts out like Alone at home Before going off the rails in an entertaining way.
Stuck on the naughty list

hypothesis Better watch out is that during the holidays, a teenage babysitter keeps tabs on a 12-year-old boy who has a huge crush on her. She thinks the worst she’ll have to deal with is a rampant of pre-teen hormones, but things get even more serious when their home is attacked by an intruder. Before the night is over, this brave babysitter will discover that the real threat is much closer to home than she ever imagined.
Cast Better watch out It includes some of the biggest names of adult performers, including Patrick Warburton (known as… The Emperor’s New Life) and Virginia Madsen (famous for Sideways) as parents who trust their child to a babysitter. The child in question is played by Levi Miller (aka frying pan), while that character’s boyish best friend is played by Ed Oxenbold (known as… Visit). The featured actress here is Olivia DeJonge (aka Visit), whose nurturing character gives all the emotional vulnerability of a young teenager and all the toughness of a final girl who will stop at nothing to survive.
An unknown film dazzles critics

Better watch out It only had a short theatrical run in Australia, so it didn’t make much of a splash with the general public. But critics loved it: On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an 89 percent rating, and critics praised the strong performances of all the child actors involved. They also praised it for being a scary movie that instantly established itself as a gory slice of must-see holiday horror (just call it an annual gift under the tree for yourself).
Compared to, say, A24’s elevated horror films, Better watch out It didn’t get a lot of pretentious awards. However, it did receive a Saturn Award nomination for Best Horror Film. Considering that Saturns is one of the most prestigious awards focusing on sci-fi, fantasy and horror and the amount of competition it faced in 2017 (the same year that… Get out, He – she, The babysitter, Happy death day, Alien: Covenantand Anna and the end of the world came out), it was impressive that this gritty horror film was in consideration for Saturn’s Best Horror Film award.
Slaughtering bells ringing

When you first checked out Better watch outI’ve never heard of it before; The truth is, it was the holidays, and I just wanted some proper Christmas-themed horror to go along with the eggnog. I quickly became immersed in the plot thanks to the acting skills of the young actors, and the film managed to do something I didn’t think was possible: it subverted my expectations in the best way possible. I thought I was going to watch a horror version of Home Alone, and I ended up watching something closer to a crazy Kidz Bop version of heresy.
To tell you more would give spoilers that could spoil your enjoyment of the film. Just trust me when I say that you never know where this home invasion story will go, and you never know how the colorful cast of characters will react to the next crazy plot point. It’s the kind of movie that will keep you guessing until the end, which it will definitely Take multiple viewings to fully appreciate it.

Would you agree to that? Better watch out Is it the perfect horror movie for the holidays, or do you want to turn it off and just go watch? Alone at home instead of? You won’t know until you drink eggnog and watch this terrifying movie for yourself. After that, you may never look at babysitters or Christmas is the same way, again forever.
