Reporter’s Notebook: Alcohol, not coffee

Republicans control the House of Representatives and the Senate.

But describing it as the “Republican Conference” does not do justice to the current circumstances.

This is really the “President Trump Conference”.

The president’s relationship with Republican lawmakers is a light years away from the 2017 charged gun marriage after he was unexpectedly seized the White House. Republicans in Capitol Hill did not know what to do with him.

Republicans in Congress “did not read tweets.” They mocked his back. They polished what they thought were unimaginable ideas from the White House.

Also, Trump did not know what to do with Republicans in Congress as well.

The form of the return and the spokesperson Paul Paul Ryan, R and Wisconsin, the strange spouses.

But Trump’s relationship with the then major leader Mitch McConneel, RK was worse.

So they focused on the areas of agreement. Republicans in Congress looked at Trump’s presidency as a way to achieve an end. They saw an opportunity to pass some of their legislative priorities.

McConnell photographed three of President Trump’s Supreme Court candidates to confirm, and changed the features of the Supreme Court for a generation. Ryan feels bored deep in his field of experience: tax policy. By Christmas 2017, the conference led by Republicans agreed to “Trump’s tax discounts”.

But they stalled early to cancel and replace Obacare.

“I will not eat this sugar. This is a disappointing day for us.”

The house finally agreed to cancel the renewed and replace the package after more than a month. But the late Senator John McCain, R. Areez, established the effort by voting against the plan later that summer.

But things are different this time between Trump and the Republicans in Congress.

“It is still the largest dog in the pound,” said MP Tim Porschet, R-ENN.

So far, Republicans in Congress are cooperating with the President to pass its “beautiful, beautiful bill”.

“We are on the right path to pass the bill outside the home-as we said from the beginning-and we reach it to the next stage by the day of anniversary,” said parliament Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.

But this does not mean that there are no doubts in the Republican Party.

“This seems to be a very narrow time frame,” said Senator Tom Teleles, RN.C, of Johnson’s aspirations. “I am not aware of any consensus, even within one of the bodies. Not to mention the consensus of the two -dimensional.”

“The time frame on July 4 will be optimistic,” said Senator James Lancford, R-OKLA. “If we can accomplish this by the end of July, I will calculate this as a victory.”

But deep divisions are the Republicans.

“I don’t think we are on the same page even inside the house, and I am much less in the House of Representatives and the Senate,” said MP Cheeb Roy, R-TEXAS.

Roy asked what was magic about the completion of the draft law with “the day of the anniversary” or “Independence Day”.

“Christmas? Easter? Day 4 July? Does this have to do with politics?

But some Republicans are not convinced that Congress is moving quickly enough.

Representative Warren Davidson, Rao, transferred the voters he heard in Ohio.

“People like,” What is a long time? “They do not think it was transferred by any means. Davidson said:“ Where is the bill? ”If we do not get this by mid -June, I think people in the homeland will go,” What do you do, comrades? “

This is why Democrats say Republicans are concerned about the private sector.

“They are clearly inconsistent with medical aid discounts,” said Senator Tim Kane, D-Via. “They are incompatible with the lifting of the debt roof only with the voices of the Republicans. They have traditionally wanted to obtain democratic sounds for this and do not do everything on their own. But if they did so in the draft reconciliation law, they will have to do everything on their own.”

Republicans began to feel nervous about the success or failure of the bill. The President – and most Republicans in Congress – have canceled the entire differentiation and political integration account on this maneuver.

“It is a function of alcohol, not coffee,” said Senator John Kennedy, R. “Some of them will make the Valium nervous.”

Kennedy claims that he is not worried. But he says that even after two months of manual decline, the Senate “will not reach consensus. The House of Representatives will not.”

But who will ignite a common ground?

“The president will have to be the ruling because he will put his muscle behind this to sell it,” Kennedy noted.

The aspects are much more in sync. But this bill is so giant that 53 Republicans in the Senate and 220 House of Representatives will not be able to resolve this matter on their own. They will look at the president to solve this.

“What do you think is the difference between the Republicans and how did they respond to President Trump during his first term? What do you see now?” You really asked you, the leader of the minority at the Senate Chuck Schumer, Den.

Shomer replied: “I think they are more fearful now. He has done a lot in terms of their threat in both the private sector and even publicly.” “They do not know what to do. They are between a rock and a difficult place. On the one hand, Trump threatens. On the other side, there are the American people who hate what Trump suggests.”

A similar group of Senate leader John Thun, RS.D.

“Can you describe the difference in the response of the Republicans of Congress to President Trump this time, compared to 2017? They seemed skeptical in 2017. This is not the case now,” I noticed.

“We all saw what happened in November and the jurisdiction he got from the American people. It was clear. It was crucial,” Thun said. “Many of us who have served with him in the recent period have seen the effects and results of many of the decisions he made regarding politics. They were the occasion. In the end, it was proven that it was right when it comes to economics, borders and national security.”

The important point is that Trump has a completely different conference compared to the universe with which he tangled in 2017. It is the Trump conference now. Jobs will generally do what he requests. But when it comes to the tax reduction package and the spending package, Trump must eventually make decisions over specific elements he wants to legislate. The question is whether the president will eventually judge matters or outside. The Trump conference will respond to that.

“It was clear to all members that this is very important for him. He wants his beautiful, beautiful bill,” said Lisa McLean, President of the Republican Conference in the House of Representatives. “I don’t want to be the person who stands on the president’s path on his agenda.”

But this will not be easy. Expect a few months challenge.

Kennedy may be right. This is one for alcohol. No coffee. Seizure of a drama from Glenliveet and Lagavulin. Starbucks and Nescafe.

That is, unless the tariffs increase the price of alcohol and coffee too much.

If this is the case, just drink water.
