AMD, OpenAI leaders tout their massive new chips partnership to power AI

The markets have just started dealing with the partnership that might shake the industry with Openai, a US -based semiconductor giant, which is likely to shake the industry – and the leaders of the two companies are making tours with the future of artificial intelligence crystallization.

The CEO of AMD Lisa Soo and Openai president Greg Brockman joined “The Claman Countdown” on Monday to discuss the huge partnership in detail. As part of the agreement, AMD will use its GPUs (GPUS) processing units to run artificial intelligence systems from the next generation of Openai. Soo celebrated the deal, promoting the “Great Day” of AMD.

“We are in a place where artificial intelligence is considered the basis,” Su said during the interview. “Everyone is looking to put more computing, so the partnership with Openai is the right opportunity.”

The CEO of AMD also praised the expected growth of revenue due to the leading partnership. “For every gigawat, this represents large billions of dollars in AMD. It is also an opportunity to accelerate the artificial intelligence of Openai. So it is profitable for both sides everywhere.”

During the second half of 2026, Openai 1 GB of AMD MI450 chips will be used, which is the company’s main graphics processing unit. Over time, Openaii is expected to use 6 GB of powerful graphics processing units. Graphics processing units are an important computer component to train artificial intelligence models, and through this investment, Openai is expected to continue to intensify efforts to make their systems faster and more efficient.

Brockman expressed an enthusiasm similar to Openai with AMD, expressing optimism about the problems that humans will be able to solve with more powerful artificial intelligence.

“I think there are problems outside the ability of mankind to overcome them alone,” he said to the flight attendant. “What we want from artificial intelligence is not just an increase in productivity for everyone, but we really want to be able to help solve problems that lead to the development of new technologies, the solution of diseases, and that we are able to educate everyone in ways that will not be possible without new new tools.”

Brockman was asked about the possibility of Openai obtaining a 10% stake in AMD by the end of the deal. He stressed that he is simply happy to continue partnership with one of the largest drilling manufacturers in the world.

“I think we are already one of the main stakeholders while AMD creates it, right?” He said. “We have made a partnership from the software perspective. I think Lisa is doing a great job; this company was not to be as it was without it. This deal was not possible without its leadership. But I believe that what we are enthusiastic about is to continue this computing partnership really and transfer computing to where you should go.”

AMD shares jumped more than 27% during midday trading, indicating an immediate effect in the technology corner on the market.
