“I can confirm” – Fabrizio Romano drops big Tottenham update as club directors fly to meet £60m star’s representatives

Tottenham striker Richarlison remains linked with a move as several clubs have shown interest in signing him.
Everton are said to be keen on the resignation of the striker who has been on fire during his time at Goodison Park.
Newcastle have also previously been linked with a move for Richarlison, while the Saudi Professional League have been long-time admirers of the Brazilian as well.
While there is no shortage of suitors for the 28-year-old, the latest reports suggest that another club have registered their interest in the player.
Tottenham striker Richarlison is wanted by the American club Orlando City
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Orlando City managers traveled to London and met with those close to Richarlison.
According to him, the club’s interest is real and officials have presented their project to the Tottenham player’s representatives.
Interest is said to be in its initial stages and no offer has been made yet and no financial terms have been discussed.
Sharing the update on YouTube, Romano said: “I can confirm that MLS Orlando have approached Richarlison.
“So what happened is that Orlando with its managers arrived in London in recent days and met with people close to Richarlison to present a potential project for the future to Richarlison.
“So Orlando has an interest and ambition in trying to sign Richardson. It’s still very early. There’s no official offer, no financial terms have been discussed. What Orlando wanted to do was tell Richardson, ‘We like you. We’re interested in you. Let’s see what happens in the near future.’
“So Orlando has a real interest. But now it depends on what happens with Tottenham because for Tottenham he is still an important player, and he is considered important internally.”
Richarlison has impressed under Thomas Frank
Richarlison has yet to live up to his reputation since joining from Everton in a £60m deal in 2022.
His time at the club was marred by injuries and poor form, with the striker scoring just one league goal in his first season with Tottenham.
The second season saw some improvement, as Richarlison finished the season with 11 goals in 28 matches.
Last season witnessed many injuries, as the Brazilian missed most of the season’s matches due to various injuries.
However, he appears to be in top form since joining Tottenham this season. The appointment of Thomas Frank appears to have played a part, with the former Everton man scoring three goals in five matches so far.
Richarlison’s numbers this season paint the picture of a striker who calmly finds his rhythm in front of goal.
The Brazilian scored three goals, beating his expected goals tally (xG) of 1.68, suggesting he was decisive in dealing with his chances rather than squandering them.
Statistics | value |
---|---|
Objectives | 3 |
Expected Goals (xG) | 1.68 |
Scoring frequency | Every 151 minutes |
Goals per match | 0.4 |
Total shots | 2.1 per game |
Shots on goal | 0.7 per game |
He averages a goal every 151 minutes, a solid return that equates to roughly one goal every one-and-a-half games, a number most managers would be happy to take from their striker.
At 0.4 goals per game, Richarlison is proving to be a consistent contributor in attack, even if he doesn’t have a shot on target. In fact, he averages 2.1 shots per game, of which 0.7 are on target, meaning around a third of his efforts test the goalkeeper.
