Instacrops will demo its water-saving, crop-boosting AI at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025
Agriculture is a thirsty industry, consuming 70 % of all the fresh water used all over the world. In some countries, such as India or Chile, it can be more than 90 %.
For Mario Postamanti, who lives in Chile, strikes the problem near the house. “The lack of water is a big problem here,” he told Techcrunch.
Bustamante is betting that artificial intelligence can help reduce water use on farms all over the world. The startup company, Instacrops, was originally established to publish the IOT Internet sensors (IOT) on farms to warn farmers against destroying frost conditions, but when the devices became a commodity, the company was central to software and water use.
Now, Instacrops 260 farms help cutting water use up to 30 % with increased crop revenue by up to 20 %. The company is part of the Battleup Startup Square, and will be presented in Techcrunch later this month in San Francisco.
The transformation from the devices to the artificial intelligence is turned on its head, allowing it to work with fewer employees and while processing more data.
“We are treating – more or less – 15 million databases per hour. For nearly 10 years, this was the amount for a year,” said Bosammante. “We reduce the cost and team members and generate more effect with less.”
Instacrops can install new Internet of Things sensors or connect to the current farm network and collect data from them to advise farmers when irrigating different areas. LLM models give birth to starting more than 80 teachers, including soil moisture, moisture, temperature, pressure, crop return, and NDVI, which is a plant productivity scale derived from satellite images.

These consultations are sent to mobile phones for farmers. Instacrops offers a Chatbot app, but also integrates with WhatsApp. “I think next year, we will be 100 % WhatsApp because it is a universal tool for any farmer,” said Bosamanti.
He said that on the most advanced farms technologically, Instacrops can control the irrigation systems directly.
Instacrops focuses on high -value crops in Latin America, including apples, avocado, berries, almonds and cherries. Farmers pay annual fees for each hectare of agricultural land to reach irrigation insights at the start of operation.
The start starting was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2021 batch, and it has received investments from SVG Ventures and Genesis Ventures.
