Chicago mayor prohibits city police collaboration with National Guard amid Trump’s threats

The mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson, a democratic, signed an executive order on Saturday prohibiting the city police officers from cooperating with the National Guard forces or federal agents if President Donald Trump continued his threats to deploy them in Windy.

Johnson said at a press conference with other city leaders: “This executive is conclusively that this president will not enter and scream with the police station,” Johnson said at a press conference with other city leaders.

The mayor’s order confirms that Chicago police officers will continue to impose government and local laws, but they will not work with the National Guard or Federal agents in patrols, arrests, migration enforcement or other law enforcement procedures.

Johnson said: “The Chicago Police Administration will not cooperate with military personnel in police patrols or enforcing civil immigration,” Johnson said. “We will not have our police officers who work hard every day to overcome the crime you are going to to stop the traffic stop and inspection points of the president.”

It states that the deployment of federal military forces in Chicago without the approval of the local authorities “undermines democratic standards, violates the sovereignty of the city, threatens civil freedoms, and risks the escalation of violence instead of securing peace.”

This comes at a time when Johnson and the Illinois Governor JB Pritzker were afraid with Trump because of the capabilities of the National Guard forces deployed in Chicago to treat crime in the city.
