China warns countries against striking trade deals with US

China threatened to take counter -measures against any country dealing with commercial deals with the United States at the expense of Beijing.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued the warning in a statement on Monday in the last round of the speech surrounding the trade war between the largest economists in the world.

“China strongly opposes any party that is reaching an agreement at the expense of China’s interests,” the ministry said in a statement. “If this happens, China will never accept it and will firmly be taken firmly counter -measures. China is designed and able to protect its rights and interests.”

“The calm will not bring peace, nor will the settlement be respected,” the statement continued.

President Donald Trump stopped the customs tariff announced by dozens of countries on April 2, although he kept 145 % on Chinese goods. Beijing has taken revenge on 125 % duties imposed on American imports.

American trade representative Jameson Jarir said earlier this month that nearly 50 countries have already contacted US commercial officials to discuss the collective tariff.

On Thursday, Trump suggested that Washington and Beijing could reach a commercial deal as soon as possible from three to four weeks.

“They have reached several times,” Trump said, referring to high -ranking Chinese officials, referring to high -level Chinese officials. When asked about their frequent contact since last week – after Trump increased three times from the Chinese tariff from 54 % to 145 % – the president replied, “Many.”

However, China has pledged to fight a “until the end” trade war, saying it would only reach the talk table if the United States showed “the correct position of equality, respect and mutual benefit.”
