Clean business: Why 97% of executives are betting big on renewables

A major new survey revealed that business leaders are not only talking about renewable energy – they are ready to share their future. In a survey of 1500 CEOs in 15 countries, 97 % expressed his support for moving away from fossil fuels to clean energy. Moreover, more than half (52 %) said they are ready to transfer operations if their country does not provide clean energy.
The survey, which was conducted by Savanta to NGOs in the United Kingdom, notes beyond fossil fuels, and we mean the Business Alliance, that companies now see renewable energy as it is very important to its survival, as executive managers cite energy security, economic growth and competitive advantage as major engines. Among those surveyed, 77 % of renewable energy sources were considered a key to economic growth, while 75 % saw clean energy as tools in creating job opportunities. Globally, 75 % of executives linked renewable energy sources to the independence of the strongest energy – a particularly strong feeling in Germany, where 78 % of business leaders said they saw renewable energy as a pellet of volatile energy imports.
“The companies that build renewable energy today put themselves in success tomorrow, as they are subject to greater competitiveness, accelerate innovation, and cancel the provision of long costs,” said the results.
The survey also revealed the insistence of the executive directors by moving to renewable energy sources: 78 % want their companies to turn into 100 % green energy during the next decade. Many of these companies are not waiting for national energy networks to catch up with knees: 93 % of companies included in the polls in investing in renewable energy generation on the site, with exactly half (50 %) layout within five years.
“Renewable energy is not just a good exercise of sustainability; it is an essential strategy for companies committed to growth, flexibility and long -term success.”
Stewart Limon, head of global practices, sustainability in Schneider Electrical
“This is no longer related to the distant climate goals,” says Nick Mabe, CEO of E3G. “It comes to staying immediate and competitive advantage.”
The overwhelming commercial support for renewable energy shows an amazing chapter between the company’s priorities and the recent US federal policy transformations. Despite the Trump administration’s moves to expand the scope of renewable energy incentives and environmental regulations, American business leaders are still committed to the green transition, as 65 % of American executives prefer directly to renewable energy sources. On the global level, 63 % of the survey leaders said they believe that governments should give priority to investments in generating green energy on fossil fuels.
“The shift from fossil fuels is no longer a discussion, it is an economic fact led by companies that recognize clean energy as a basis for long -term competitive advantage, creating job opportunities, and stability of energy prices,” said Maria Mendelos, CEO of Business Coalition, who represents both major companies and NGOs. “Business leaders are investing in renewable energy sources and wanting to do more. They need governments to accelerate planning and remove delay in the field of renewable energy, storage and networks.”
On this point, the survey also revealed major results on the challenges of energy transmission, as business leaders determine a set of common practical barriers. The most frequently mentioned of these costs associated with the transition from Al -Ahfar’s energy systems to renewable energy sources were 46 %. More than two -thirds of the respondents (38 %) also indicated that the electricity infrastructure is insufficient as a cause of anxiety. At the same time, the third thought was that the lack of government funding for renewable energy materials was causing difficulties when looking at them at the wild level.

In addition to its importance within the business community, the results are noticeable in a broader social context. Last year, a global survey that included 130,000 people revealed that 89 % of people are calling for stronger political work, but many people reduce the level of high support from others. The authors of the paper, published in the magazine natureI found that this “perception gap” presented an obstacle to the work of the most radical climate. The researchers concluded that “the vast majority of people around the world are ready to work against climate change and expect their national government to act.”
