In his exclusive column Catchofside, Collymore spoke about his happiness in Salah and Van Dijk signing new contracts in Liverpool.

“It is excellent for Liverpool to keep the services of Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dick. For me, it does not matter how much money was provided in view of their ages, because the money that it costs to replace will certainly be much more.

“In the case of Van Dijk, he is very able to maintain his natural ability to read a match even if he slows down – he has this thing that many other defenders do not do. With Salah, I don’t see him losing a lot of this critical pace for two or three years. There can be no conversation about it after the 2026 World Cup.”

Collymore also believes that it was important for Liverpool to keep the services of Salah and Van Dick instead of Trent Alexander Arnold, who seems to join Real Madrid as a free agent.

“If you had told me last summer that Liverpool will maintain Salah and Van Digk, but you lost Trent Alexander-Arnold, I would have done vehicles-and I am sure that supporters will feel the same. Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.
