Sheriff Guidroz said the inmates fled after discovering “a humiliating portion of the upper wall area.” Over time, they were able to remove the mortar holding the concrete blocks of the wall together. They then used sheets to climb the outer wall of the prison, fall to the roof of the first floor and then lower themselves to the ground. Guidroz gave these details in a press release last Wednesday. Al-Sharif said the hack will be investigated internally.

Louisiana and two groups escaped from prison in one year

This wasn’t the first daring prison break in Louisiana this year. In May, 10 inmates escaped from a New Orleans prison after crawling through a hole behind a toilet and leaving a message that read: “It’s easy to laugh out loud.” Authorities in multiple states searched for the escapees, while local officials pointed the finger at those responsible for the prison escape. It took five months before all ten prisoners were captured.
