Clean energy provided nearly 41% of global power last year

Clean energy constituted approximately 41 % of the world in the world in 2024.

Ember released a report On Tuesday, which was found that 40.9 % of the global electricity generation last year came from clean energy.

Last year, it was distinguished by the “first time since the 1940s” that the clean energy share exceeded the global power generation, the 40 % threshold, according to Energy Research Tank.

Among the green energy sources, Hydro was responsible for 14.3 % of global electricity. Behind it, this was 9 % nuclear, while the winds and solar energy produced 8.1 % and 6.9 %, respectively. Other renewable energy such as vital energy, ground energy, tide and carrots are less than 3 %.

In general, the clean energy was responsible for 12,609 hours (TWH) to generate electricity in 2024, which represents an increase of 9.6 % on an annual basis.

Embry said that renewable energy specifically grew by 9.6 % to 9,842 ticks last year, with solar energy as a “largest contributor” in that third year back.

Solar added more than twice the amount of electricity generation in 2024 like any other electricity source “, which is” more than 20 times larger than “ten years ago, according to the research tank.

“The solar energy has become the global energy transmission engine. Associated with the storage of the battery, Solar is scheduled to be an indelible power. Since the fastest growing and the largest source of new electricity, it is important to meet the growing demand in the world on electricity,” Fel McDonald said in a statement.

In 2024, the demand for electricity came at 30,856 TWH worldwide, as a 4 % jump was published on an annual basis, according to Emper.

The hot weather conditions played a role in increasing the demand for electricity last year. Artificial intelligence, data centers, electric cars and heat pumps also did so, as the research tank said they were responsible for 0.7 % of the high demand last year.

More than three quarters of the world’s jump in demand in 2024 was met with clean energy, according to Amb.

The Research Tank indicated that there is a higher cooling request than the heat waves that contributed to the electricity resulting from fossil fuels, which suffers from an increase of 1.4 % last year.

Nearly 18247 TWH of Electricity in the world in 2024 came from fossil fuels. This, according to EMber, represents 59.1 % of the world’s power generation.

“Without the most hot temperature effect, the fossil generation had been fixed,” Eper said in its report.

The Think Tank said it looked at “the latest data 2024 of 88 countries representing 93 % of global electricity demand, as well as estimates of 2024 for all other countries” to formulate the report.

In the United States, clean energy provided 42 % of electricity in 2024, while fossil fuel represents 58 %, according to the report.

About 42.5 % of the power generation in America last year was gas. Eber said that the generation of coal energy in the United States was 14.9 %, which represents the first case ever less than 15 %.

The expert says that gas prices may decrease as crude oil is low.

The report also found that 17 % of US electricity was specially created by wind and solar energy last year. When it comes to solar energy, the 64 TWH jump, “the biggest increase in solar energy generation” in the country, made the research tank.
