Sanjay Manjrekar launches attack on Shubman Gill

Former Indian National Cricket Team batsman Sanjay Manjrekar launched an attack on star batsman Shubman Gill after he was omitted from the Indian T20I squad.
Shubman Gill was recently left out of India’s T20I squad despite being vice-captain, and Axar Patel has been named as Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Gill’s exclusion came on the back of his terrible run in T20I cricket since his return to the format. Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar took an indirect dig at Gill in a social media post discussing his exclusion. He said:
“He hasn’t gotten to 50 once in 20 innings. Statistics are often cited to point to a loss of form. T20s are and will always be about strike rates. The last thing you want is for an out-of-form batsman to play cautiously when he approaches 50. That will lose you the game.”
