DC tops public corruption rankings in new Cato Institute analysis

The new research tank analysis finds that public corruption is a major problem in the United States, and it is the most prevalent in government and government governments that have a larger bureaucracy and higher regulations.

The Kato Liberation Institute said that he analyzed the Ministry of Justice data on public corruption convictions in 94 judicial provinces in the country and measured the average annual number of condemnations per 100,000 people during the period 2004-2023.

“The data shows that some of the most corrupt places through this measure corresponding to their reputation,” said Cato analysts.

Washington, DC, topped the rating with 469 total convictions in a period of approximately 20 years and an annual average of 3.49, according to the Kato report.

“It has a large number of federal employees in the legislative and executive branch, and there are many opportunities for taste,” the report says.

The eastern province of Louisiana, which includes New Orleans, is ranked fourth in the Kato list with a total of 430 condemnation during this period and an annual condemnation rate of 1.29.

“New Orleans has been very bad for local corruption,” the report says.

However, the research tank indicated that some academic studies have proposed other reasons for corruption differences between countries and cities, including changing cultures, levels of education and poverty rates.
