Delta warns against tariffs amid national security probe into aircraft imports

Delta Air Lines Ed Bastian’s CEO talks to Campan about the company’s developments in CES 2025.
In response to the federal investigation into the impact of the national security of imported commercial aircraft, jet engines and parts, the Delta air lines urged the government not to impose a new tariff.
A spokeswoman for the Delta News News Digitter provided a document from a law firm, who was responding on behalf of the airline to request the general suspension of the government on the investigation.
The message warned that “without saving time, any possible tariff will not only threaten our manufacture of aircraft, but will also prevent Delta’s ability to buy locally produced aircraft or abroad.”

“If the trade recommends definitions under Article 232, the procedure will also impose an unexpected tax on the purchase of a delta for the aircraft that they contracted for years ago. Delta is likely to be forced to cancel the current contracts and reconsider the contracts subject to negotiation.”
In 2023 and 2024, the company accepted the delivery of 47 aircraft from the Airbus plane made in Canada, Germany or France, as the document noted, stressing that if the airline is not able to accept aircraft due to the customs tariff, you will need flights, a step that had an impact on about 10 million customers annually.
And the message warned: “A similar effect can be expected to move forward if the trade is recommended by definitions on Section 232.”
“The imposition of a new tariff on aircraft, engines and parts that would frustrate the growth of the growing foothold in high skills manufacturing services such as maintenance, repairs, aircraft repair, engines and component parts. The new tariff also will hold Deterer’s ability to purchase Delates.

In a statement, White House spokesman Kush Disai said, “The Trump administration is committed to an American first agenda to protect national and economic security in our country. To achieve that end, the Ministry of Commerce is currently following the investigation of section 232 in imports of engines and spare parts.
The Ministry of Commerce did not respond to a request for a comment Fox News Digital by publishing time.
The notice of the general comment request on the investigation indicated that “on May 1, 2025, the Minister of Commerce began an investigation under Article 232 (19 USC 1862) to determine the effects of national security for commercial aircraft and jet engines, and spare parts for commercial aircraft and jet engines.”
“The best thing for mutual wealth,” says the open markets for the German counselor to drop the tariffs of definitions.
