Democrat Massachusetts lawmaker arrested for alleged fraud

A Democratic Deputy in Massachusetts was arrested and charged after he stole tens of thousands of dollars from a local commercial association to finance personal and political expenditures alike.
The Massachusetts MP -Phalangan deputy, 37 years old, was charged with five charges of fraud in wires and the charges of falsifying records on Friday, according to the Ministry of Justice (Doj).
Flaanagan held the position of executive official of the Cape Code Association and received a salary and benefits ranging from 65,800 dollars to 81,600 dollars from 2019 to 2024, while he was working there. Flanagan also received $ 97,546 and 100,945 dollars in 2023 and 2024, from his position as a project.
Starting in October 2021, Flanagan was facing a financial problem and stealing $ 36,000 in the funds of the House of Manufacturers through bank transfers, according to the Ministry of Justice.

From November 18, 2021 and January 28, 2023, Flanagan walked anywhere from $ 1500 and $ 10,000 on several separate occasions.
The Ministry of Justice said that Vanagan used money to pay the mortgage bills, pay debts, and even use them to pay for personal psychological services.
In the expenses report, the Ministry of Justice said that Flanagan claimed that it had spent $ 159.36 on “technology services” in Best Buy and $ 537.26 on “office supplies” in 4imprint, but the records showed that the money was used to buy a Bluetooth audio and shirts for his political campaign.
