As the government shutdown enters its third week, and service members and federal workers are set to begin losing pay, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other Democrats continue to point to President Donald Trump and Republicans.
In a fundraising email sent to supporters this week, Jefferies signed off with his usual slogan, “Keep the Faith.”
In the email, Jeffries indicated that his party would not give in to his demands before reopening the government, saying that “Democrats will continue to stand up to address the Republican health care crisis, and we will not back down until it is fixed. America deserves better.”
In the Senate, background talks have continued behind closed doors, but nothing has yet materialized into full negotiations on the expiration of Obamacare tax credits to find a way to end the shutdown.

If Jeffries’ speech is any indication, Democrats are no closer to budging.
“Republicans thought we would back down because of the fake videos, threats, and lies,” he wrote. “Not a chance. Eliminate the cuts. Reduce the cost. Save health care. Keep the faith.”
Other House Democrats also actively fundraised after the shutdown.
Rep. Janel Bynum, Democrat of Oregon, was particularly active, sending out several fundraising emails, including one in which her team told supporters: “The stakes couldn’t be higher.”
“That’s why Janelle will not back down in her fight to put Oregonians first and ensure our government works for the people,” Bynum’s team wrote. “If you are with her, get involved today to help her continue this critical fight for hardworking Americans in the House of Representatives.”
In another email to his supporters, Bynum complained that “Republicans just ran an attack ad accusing me of shutting down the government.”

“They are targeting me because of their failed leadership and the chaos they have created in Washington. We cannot allow their shameful attacks to go unanswered,” she wrote, adding: “Will you hurry up and donate now to help our team take on national Republicans and defend Oregonians?”
“If we want to prevent these shutdowns from happening in the future, we need to take back control of Congress next year,” Rep. Dave Maine, D-Calif., wrote in another fundraising email.
“That is why I turn to you: If you are in a position to give, will you contribute whatever you can to help me defend this struggling region next year?” appealed.
“The Democrats’ demands are simple,” he wrote in another email.
“Roll back GOP Medicaid cuts, and extend Obamacare tax credits to make health insurance more affordable. Neither should be controversial!” Books with a link to donate.

Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, cut to the chase and asked supporters in an email to “pay $10, $25, or whatever makes sense to you to stand with me against this reckless shutdown and help us take back the House next fall.”

Speaking with reporters on Friday, Jeffries doubled down on his rejection of the GOP’s ongoing spending bill that would reopen the government, calling it “a partisan spending bill that continues to destroy health care for the American people and threatens to raise the cost of living for tens of millions of people.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the offices of Jeffries, Bynum, Min and Kaptur for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
