Phoenix Mercury frontman Alyssa Thomas responded to a fan on X, who once criticized her partner DeWanna Bonner. The fan tweeted about Bonner and her fiancé Thomas, with one of her tweets mentioning Bonner joining Fever despite Thomas’ comments about Fever fandom.

Thomas was critical of Indiana Fever fans. She criticized them for allegedly racist and insulting comments. Fever fans have made fun of her partner Bonner joining Indiana.
Bonner signed a one-year contract with the Indiana Fever in February 2025. She was brought in to add a veteran presence to a young Fever team. However, things did not go as planned, as she started the first three matches and played the next six games from the bench.
She requested a trade, and later joined Mercury. Thomas has been tight-lipped about Bonner’s departure from Indiana.

DeWanna Bonner came to the defense of her fiancée Alyssa Thomas after a huge foul on Angel Reese. During a game against the Chicago Sky on May 25, 2024, Thomas wrapped her arm around Reese’s neck and pushed her to the ground.
“Yall.. I can take the pressure all day long,” Bonner tweeted, “because I’m fully engaged in our season. No matter the suggestion that domestic violence is happening in what we have, it’s not going to happen. EVER! Be angry, upset, angry about the play.. but we’re not those people.. That’s not cool. That’s too far.”
Bonner and Thomas reunited at the Phoenix Mercury. Since getting engaged during the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game, nothing has been said from the couple regarding their wedding.
