DoD authorizes civilian workers to join border security efforts at DHS request

The Ministry of Defense (DOD) has started a voluntary program for its civilian employees to go to the southern border to support the efforts of the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) there.
The agency issued a Monday note that allows its civilian employees to volunteer to travel and support border operations.

“Protecting our country from bad actors and illegal materials have been the focus of the president and the defense minister since the first day of this administration,” said Sean Barnell, the Pentagon chief spokesman. “Whether on the borders or in our societies, allowing qualified civilian employees to the qualified Ministry of Defense to support the Ministry of National Security will accelerate the progress made by the members of the service already in achieving national security goals.”
A US official told Fox News that this volunteer program was at the request of DHS.

It was not clear that the number of civilian employees in the Ministry of Defense was not expected to volunteer or the type of work they would do. Fox News Digital has arrived at DOD and DHS.
“The details of the details may be either recovered or not refundable,” says the memo, which is composed by Defense Minister Beit Higseth.

The news of the volunteer program comes at a time when the Trump administration continues to take strict measures on illegal immigration and targets illegal criminal immigrants to deport.
