DOGE caucus leader demands IRS crackdown as nearly 6,000 staff owe up to $46M in back taxes

Johnny Ernst, R-IOWA, the Supreme Republican in the DOGE government field (IRS), urges another review of its current and former employees, who, as of May 2023, owe about $ 46 million as homogeneous taxes.

Less than 6000 employees and contractors from the Tax Authority have not been checked from May 2023, with about a third of the payment plans, according to the Treasury General report last year. Ernst asked the report at that time and sent a letter to the Treasury Scott Pessant this week urging him to “ensure the compliance of federal employees of the tax in order to maintain the confidence of the public.”

Ernst said: “In the era of Doug, I hope that the Tax Authority can obtain a house of its own, before it pursues ordinary citizens,” Ernst said.

The Tax Authority also criticized the employment of nearly 400 individuals who have been rejected before performance cases, such as misconduct or lack of compliance with tax obligations.

Ernst said that the Tax Authority “also employed 300 former employees who were left to cases such as criminal misconduct, sexual misconduct, and the inability to perform duties, fighting and assault, and unauthorized access to tax declaration information.”

Another report from March 2023 from the Treasury Inspector revealed that more than 42,000 civilian federal employees have failed to submit their tax decisions on time for several financial years, between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2020.

According to the report, the majority of the “non -armed” were employed by the Post Office or the Ministry of Old Warriors Affairs or the army.

“I hope the Tax Authority can obtain its own home, before the pursuit of ordinary citizens,” said Senator Johnny Ernst, R-IOWA, with regard to the agency’s employees in arrears on personal income taxes. ()

“It should not be surprising that the Tax Authority is the least preferred agency in America,” Ernest told Fox Business in a statement.

Ernest said that the Tax Authority has a “history of politicization” and “tax tax collectors.” Ernst prompted the campaign to repress the workers of the late tax department three weeks before the day of taxes.

Since 2023, Ernest has continued measures to enhance control of the Tax Authority. In July 2024, “Audit the Irs ACT” was submitted to ban individuals with serious tax debts from employees or employees in the Tax Authority.

In February, Elon Musk posted from DOGE a survey of X asking users, “Do you want to check the tax authority?”

“Yes, I have a bill to do so!” Ernst published a response to musk. “Reviewing the Tax Authority Law will check the auditors and shoot more than 800 tax department agents who owe millions of dollars in rear taxes.”

However, the Supply Authority prevented Musk from accessing individual taxpayer revenues and other personal information, despite support from the White House to determine waste in the Tax Authority.
