On Wednesday, the Trump administration announced a proposed base to reduce time for international students in the United States for their studies until four years.
If this is completed, the proposed base that will be published on Thursday will limit the time allowing some visa holders, including foreign students, to stay in the United States, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Security, who said that the proposal seeks to curb the “visa abuse” and increase the agency’s ability to “examine these individuals and get to know these individuals properly.”
The agency said that foreign students “benefited from our generosity” and they became “forever students” by staying registered in colleges so that they can stay in the United States

A spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Security said in a statement, “For a very long time, previous departments allowed foreign students and other visa holders to stay in the United States indefinitely, which raises safety risks, and costs an infinite amount of taxpayer dollars, and the immediate American citizens.”
“This proposed new rule will end from abuse once and for all by reducing the time that some visa holders are allowed to stay in the United States, which reduces the burden on the federal government to properly supervise foreign students and their history.”
Since 1978, foreign students, or visa holders F allowed to stay in the United States because of the “duration of the situation”, which means the time they were registered as a full -time student. The proposed base for foreign students and visitors will allow their exchange of staying in the country until the duration of the program in which they participate, although the federal government will not allow it to exceed four years, which is usually less than time than it requires follow -up to any additional education that exceeds the bachelor’s degree.

In addition to students, the proposed base will determine the initial admission period for foreign journalists for up to 240 days, although they may seek an extension of up to 240 other days, but it is no longer the length of their mission.
The press statement said that requesting regular reviews by the Ministry of National Security for Foreigners to stay in the United States for a longer period will allow the agency to conduct “appropriate censorship” and reduce the number of people in the country on visas.

Foreign students, in particular, usually pay more tuition fees and get fewer scholarship opportunities, which means that the proposed base may have a financial impact on American colleges if it leads to a decline in international registration.
“Certainly it will be an additional deterrent for international students who choose to study in the United States, at the expense of American economies, innovation and global competitiveness,” said Vanta or the CEO and CEO of NAFSA: The International Teachers Association, in a policy statement.
