Eddie Hearn Warns Of Treacherous Early Rounds For Allen

Eddie Hearn predicts: “It will be a treacherous affair for Dave Allen vs. hard-punching Arslanbek Makhmudov in four or five rounds tonight, as the Russian fighter is at full steam in a 12-round heavyweight contest at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England. The event will be shown live on DAZN starting at 2:00 PM ET/11:00 AM PT The quiet one.

Makhmudov’s electric window

Hearn says Makhmudov will run out of steam after the first four rounds, and Allen (24-7-2, 19 KO) will be able to come in and punish him to the body and head. He believes Allen will win the fight in the second half.

The treacherous start ahead

“I think it’s a treacherous fight in the first four or five rounds,“Dave is an exceptional boxing mind,” Eddie Hearn told iFL TV about what Allen faces in the Mahmudov fight. You have to be strong enough to stay there with Makhmudov. You have to be smart, but you also have to work.

It will be treacherous even after four and five rounds for Allen. Mahmudov is still dangerous when he is tired and in pain. He beat a better fighter than Allen, Carlos Takam, by 10-round unanimous decision.

Mahmudov was still throwing with tremendous power in the later rounds, but resistance to Takam’s punches saved him from being stopped. This version of Takam was a bigger hitter and a superior fighter than Allen. There is no comparison. Unless Makhmudov has lost something of his game in the last three years, Allen will take a lot of punishment in this fight.

Don’t walk on it

“What you don’t want to do is walk him with a high guard, shooting around the ear, because he can punch and he’s very dangerous,” Hearn said of Mahmudov. “He’s very sharp early on, and he’s underrated as a fighter technically.”

The high guard style is the style that Dave Allen usually uses in his fights. He doesn’t throw a lot of punches and just tries to block or land shots until he gets close enough to fly in a big one of his own.

Allen’s risky scheme

Allen says he’s going to take on Mahmudov, dodge his big shots, then come in after the fourth shot. If he started slow like he always did, he might not be around long enough to ramp up his attack in the fifth round, like he had said he would.
