Eric Adams exits NYC mayoral race as Zohran Mamdani gains momentum

The mayor of New York City Eric Adams came out of the municipal race in the city on Sunday, stopping his campaign to re -elect him just five weeks before the election day.

Adams announced his decision in a video of nearly nine minutes posted on social media, not providing any evidence about his plans after leaving the position.

In his announcement, Adams said: “It is an honor for me to be your mayor,” as he highlighted what he described as achievements related to the limit of crime and the ability to bear the costs of housing and economic recovery during his period in his position.

“However, despite everything we have achieved, I cannot continue my campaign to re -elect it,” he said, adding that he was unable to raise money for a “dangerous campaign.”
