EU is trying to ‘handicap successful American businesses’ with new fines

Meta launched the European Union’s decision to impose a fine of $ 228 million against the social media giant, describing it as an unfair application of the new competition laws of the bloc.

“The European Commission is trying to hinder successful American companies while allowing Chinese and European companies to work according to different criteria,” Joel Kaplan, the chief global affairs employee in Meta, said in a statement to Yahoo.

The European Union Control Monitoring Authority, the European Commission, said on Wednesday that Meta had violated a condition under the Digital Markets law to provide consumers by choosing a service that uses less than their personal data.

“This is not only a fine,” added Kaplan from Meta. “The committee that forces us to change our business model actually imposes a tariff of billions of dollars to introduce our demand to provide poor service. By unrestricting the personal advertisement, the European Commission hurts European companies and economies.”

Mita said she plans to appeal the decision.

Separately, the European Union fined Appl (AAPL) worth $ 571 million under a different ruling of the same law, claiming that the iPhone manufacturer failed to allow application developers whose applications are offered through the alternative App Store for users to make purchases.

Apple also had some powerful words for European organizers. “Today’s ads are another example of the European Commission, which is not fairly targeting Apple in a series of bad decisions of the privacy and security of our users, bad products, and forcing us to abandon our technology for free,” said an iPhone representative.

“We spent hundreds of thousands of engineering hours and made dozens of changes to compliance with this law, and none of them were asked. Despite countless meetings, the committee continues to transfer goals on every step on the road.”

Apple has also confirmed that it would appeal the decision and continue to request a solution with the EC.

The Chamber of Technology Trade Association in the United States, which calls for major American technology companies, said that the European Union fines increase the links of the United States and the European Union.

Adam Kovasfic, CEO of the Bruce Chamber, said: “After the companies crossed” T “and all” I “moved in compliance with the law, these fines prove that the goal of Europe was along that American companies’ codification of punishment.”

“The digital market law has already created a digital curtain across Europe and turned Europeans into second -class digital citizens. It is possible to increase the war of war.”
