Experts divided on security risks of Nvidia’s H20 AI chip sales to China

At a turn of the events, a special meeting between President Donald Trump and the CEO of the world’s largest chips factory, Jensen Huang from Nafidia, has retracted the ban on the transfer of the H20 chrod to China, Bonn, millions of dollars in the company.

In April, the Ministry of Commerce is bound in April, NVIDIA cost billions of dollars, and the retreat of the ban was intended as a privilege in the metal deal where China would stop restricting access to rare land.

NVIDIA said on Monday night that it would resume sales of the H20 chip, and the Minister of Commerce, Howard Lootnick, defended this step,

“We do not sell them the best things we have, not the second best we have … the fourth best slide,” he said.

Once it was banned in April due to national security concerns, the H20 is now approved under the banner of the broader commercial negotiations, especially in exchange for reaching rare ground minerals from Beijing. But this shift raises decisive questions.

Is the United States trading a strategic advantage in artificial intelligence or allowing China to rely on American technology as a financial lever point?

Critics argue that the administration sends conflicting messages. A few days ago, a ban on sales in the White House prohibited the sales of the chips of G42 AI in the United Arab Emirates due to the security concerns related to China, however, the ban on the H20s heading to China is now comfortable.

Representative John Molinaar, Chairman of the Chinese House of Representatives Selection Committee, condemned the decision, warning that American artificial intelligence chips could “strengthen military capabilities in China, suppress citizens and threaten American innovation.”

Jack Bourneham, Amnesty International and Technical Researcher at the Foundation for Democrats (FDD) has repeated a similar source of concern. Fox News Digital told that although the H20 chip is not the same as the most recent chips, “at the same time, it is much stronger than any chip that China can produce on a large scale, which is the slide that China needs exactly at this moment.”

He said, “This allows AI to think properly,” adding that China will use it to develop advanced Amnesty International models such as seek and “very likely” to use chips to enhance military modernization.

“It is extremely important to realize that this is the place where the United States is particularly advanced. It has an unparalleled advantage, and this is a feature that the United States should continue to try to stick to it,” said Bournemham.

He said that China will depend on US chips to promote artificial intelligence only until the Chinese alternative becomes “more effective.”

“This is a great strategy from the White House,” Pelini said.

“So we give them the restricted access to an older segment, and in return we are strengthening our industrial supply chain” in exchange for rare land minerals.

Bilini added that preventing China from reaching the risk of H20S until forcing companies like Huawei to build independent Amnesty International chimneys.

“Huang knows what he is doing,” Pelini said. “Let China have H20, because NVIDIA is already moving to more advanced platforms. What they are getting today will be old by the time when it is published.”

While China will get chips, it still needs a private NVIDIA platform, CUDA, to run artificial intelligence models.

“Even when China gets devices, it is still working on an environmental system for the United States -controlled programs. This is the silent financial lever,” Bilini said.

“It is preferable to lift the ban.” He said that not doing this would repeat what happened when the United States refused to share 4G networks with China.

“What happened? China forced us to activate, which they did. They have developed 5G technology, then 5g from China became the prevailing technology around the world,” he said. “We had the initiative that we abandoned.
