‘Nightmare bacteria’ infection rates have spiked nearly 70% since 2019, CDC says
The infection rates caused by the “Nightmaphus Bacteria” increased by almost 70 % between 2019 and 2023, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The researchers of the Disease Control Center wrote in an article published on Monday in the annuals of internal medicine. Researchers said only two antibiotics work against these infections, and the expensive medicines and should be given through the fourth.
The bacteria with the gene were considered a strange day, linked to a small number of patients who received medical care abroad. Although the numbers are still small, the rate of American cases has jumped more than five times in recent years, the researchers said.
“The appearance of NDMS in the United States is a very big and disturbing danger,” said David Weiss, a researcher at Emori University.
Scientists of the Center for Disease Control said that many people are unknown tankers for drug -resistant bacteria, which may lead to the spread of society.
This may play in doctors ’offices throughout the country, as infections that are routine and easy to treat – such as urinary tract infections – can become chronic problems.
Antimicrobial resistance occurs when germs such as bacteria and fungi acquire the ability to fight medications designed to kill them. The abuse of antibiotics was a great cause of height – incomplete or unnecessary recipes that did not kill germs made it stronger.
In recent years, the Center for Disease Control has drew attention to the resistant “Bacteria” of the “Bacteria” of a wide range of antibiotics. This includes Carbapenems, a category of antibiotics that are the last resort to treat serious infections.
The researchers extracted data from 29 states that test and report the necessary bacteria resistant to the carpenem.
They have returned 4,341 cases of bacterial infections that resist Kirbinam from those states in 2023, with 1831, including the NDM group. The researchers did not mention the number of people with the injured people.
The rate of anti-cabinim infections increased from less than 2 per 100,000 people in 2019 to more than 3 per 100,000 in 2023-an increase of 69 %. The authors said that the NDM rate increased from about 0.25 to about 1.35 – an increase of 460 %.
A researcher who is not involved in the study said the increase may relate to Covid-19s.
“We know that there is a significant increase in the use of antibiotics during the epidemic, so this is likely to be reflected in the increase in the resistance of medicines,” said Dr. Jasson Bourneham, a researcher at the University of Washington.
The number of disease control center is just a partial image.
Many countries do not experience reporting and reporting fully. Even in the countries that do so, cases tend to be among the patients of the hospital enough to ensure special tests. Many hospitals are also unable to conduct the necessary tests to detect certain forms of genetic resistance.
Bornham said that the researchers of the Disease Control Center did not have data from some of the most intensively populated states, including California, Florida, New York and Texas, which means that the absolute number of American infections “is certainly reduced.”
This is not the first study to report height. The report of the Center for Diseases published in June indicated an increase in NDM cases in New York City between 2019 and 2024.
