Abbott warns fleeing Texas Democrats face arrest for ‘literally years’

Texas Governor Greg Abbott warned the government of the government that the threat of detention when returning to Texas will continue for “literally years” on Sunday.

Abbott made the statement during an interview with “Fox News Sunday” with the host Shannon Bram. He said that within his authority to keep the legislative body in Texas in a special session indefinitely, which expands the sanctions against the Democrats who fled the state.

“I am authorized to contact a special session every 30 days. It lasts 30 days. Once this stage ends, I will call another skin, then another, then another, then another.”

“If they remain again in the state of Texas, they will be arrested and transferred to the Capitol. If they want to evade this detention, they will have to stay outside Texas for years literally.”

This warning comes at a time when Abbott seeks to remove the late Democrats from his post, on the pretext that they have abandoned their roles under the state constitution.

He said: “We have a position in which legislators violate the law in Article 3 of the Texas Constitution, where they must dispose of the draft laws. Because they violate this constitutional mandate, and this means that they do not accomplish their right, and they can be removed from his position in this legal procedure that I take.”
