Fall juice date – The Fitnessista

Catching up with my friends online to get a little juice.

Hello friends! How are you? I hope you’re having a lovely week so far! I’m back in homeschool and mommy mode after my trip, but I’m looking forward to a hot yoga class this afternoon.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a date, so I’d love to talk about what’s going on and see what’s going on in your life! So grab your favorite drink and let’s talk a little, shall we??

If we were drinking juice right now…

I want to hear about what you’ve been doing! Is fall crazy for you too? What will your kids be up to for Halloween? Are there any plans to travel in the fall or holidays?

I have a trip to Los Angeles coming up in a couple of weeks that I’m looking forward to, other than that, we don’t have any scheduled at the moment. (Side note: We’re hosting a meetup on November 13, so if you’re near the Manhattan Beach area and want to join, let me know and I’ll send you the details!)

I always like to know when our next trip is going to happen – it gives me something to look forward to as I go, which I’ve heard is a trauma response but I ignore – so I’m crossing my fingers that we can book a Disney cruise or something fun soon. The girls are begging to go to Korea and Japan, so I think this will be our next big trip, after Liv graduates 8th grade. If you have any recommendations, let me know! This is completely new territory for me. (And Liv is a little baffled by the fact that we could have lived in Korea several times for the Army, but we chose PCS’ top picks instead.)

On Halloween, Liv is boxing with her friend (cute gym clothes and boxing gloves) and P is one of those inflatable costumes that looks like an alien is carrying you. P hit 10 on Sunday and I can’t even believe it!

I want to know what you’ve been reading/watching/enjoying lately. I love this season of Dancing with the stars and Sound. I’m watching DWTS With children – they love it too! Sound A few times a week while walking on the treadmill. I’m reading Frozen river Now – it’s intense and I’m enjoying it so far.

I want to hear about how you’re doing… like how you’re doing truly a job. No fluff. The real deal. I would like to tell you that we are in an interesting season. We’re still trying to navigate the pilot’s travel schedule with my work life and homeschooling. I also admit that homeschooling is great, but it’s not always easy. I have these wonderful ideas about all the field trips we’ll take and the crafts we’ll do, but the reality is that by the time we get everything done and eat lunch, I’m lucky to get one chore done and a few work assignments wrapped up before we have to pick up Liv and head to after school activities/homework/dinner.

I know we will find our balance in the end. The good news is that she is thriving academically and the pilot helps her with homeschooling matters when he is in town. This happens when I put together client calls and podcast interviews. It was always meant to be a bridge—not something forever unless that’s what it has to be—and she’s starting to say she misses her school friends. We’ll see what happens in the end, but we’re taking it day by day.

I just wanted to be honest because online we see a ton of farm-harvested sourdough from the garden, egg-harvesting, cow-milking, romanticized version of homeschooling, but sometimes that’s not always the case. 😉

I’d like to tell you about the Reimagine Health Summit and how excited I was after it happened. These types of conferences always light a fire in my soul, but this one had a special impact. I feel really honored to have been selected to speak on a Health coach expert panel with a few of my best integrative health practitioner friends (and women I greatly admire), and thank you for your amazing support I was in 7th place out of over 5,000 IHPs in sales for the 100 Day Challenge. (I was in 7th place last year too!) I feel a push for the next step and what I’m supposed to do, and I’m excited to see it unfold. When I first interviewed Dr. Cabral for my podcast years ago, I knew he was creating something truly amazing, and I am so excited to be a small part of EquiLife and IHP’s mission.

I would also like to ask you about your thoughts on peptides, especially GLP-1/GIP. I know this can be an intense topic, but I’m always curious to hear what my friends think about anything in the health/wellness space. I’ve always loved certain peptides and their abilities — like collagen peptides, the OneSkin products I use daily, glutathione, and NAD+ — but I’ve been averse to using GLP-1s for a long time. I’ve learned more, and changed my mind, especially when it comes to microdosing.

To my knowledge, there aren’t any large studies when it comes to microdosing; GLP-1 has been around for a long time but related studies rely on larger therapeutic doses. Quite a few health experts I trust have spoken about the life-extension benefits of microdosing.

If I end up trying it, I will definitely report back because I’ve heard it can be helpful for blood sugar response, inflammation (I’m feeling extra inflamed at the moment), and perimenopause. I don’t think you should rely on these things – that you should test them to see what’s out of balance – but they can be a useful tool if you’re feeling stuck.

I’ll be watching to see if you’ve tried any good recipes lately and what you’re making for dinner tonight. I made this beef pot for the first time about a month ago, and the girls have been asking for it a lot. It’s so good and satisfying! I started adding artichokes to it as well. The sauce + beef and vegetable mixture is amazing.

I’d also like to ask if you’d like to split some gluten-free desserts with me 😉

Thank you for coming today, friends, and for being here. Have a great day and I’ll see you soon!

xo
