Family of 12 contracts fungal infection histoplasmosis after Costa Rica bat cave tour

Bring a family of six adults and six children to the house more than just souvenirs from Costa Rica after they toured the bat.

One of the adults went to the emergency room and was taken to the hospital due to the abnormal radiography of the chest.

The results raised concerns about lung cancer.

All 12 members who toured the cave were wounded 8-19 days after exposure.

Family members suffered from headache, distress, fever, night sweating, muscle play, respiratory and digestive symptoms.

All of them recover to full health 28 days after exposure.

In response to this fascism, the Center for Control of Diseases alerted health departments by notifying the exchange of epidemic information to help identify additional cases.

The Center for Disease Control cooperates with the American embassy in Costa Rica and the Ministry of Health in Costa Rica to integrate information about the risks of hemoplasma in the forms of waiver of the cavity round.

In addition, the US embassy in Costa Rica issued a healthy alert in March 2025 to notify the public of the risk of contracting with the hystemplasmctomy of the cave tours.
