US partners with Colombia to take on immigration using biometric capabilities

The United States and Colombia have agreed to a partnership to spread biometric capabilities to help authorities to migrate and stop criminal activity.

The DHS Minister of Internal Security (DHS) met Christie Nayyim with Colombia Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia in Bogota on Thursday, when the two signed an agreement to use biometric capabilities.

After signing the agreement: “We signed today a statement of intentions for biological cooperation, and this will confirm our strength and permanent partnership.”

The agreement comes a few months after president Donald Trump and Colombia President Gustavo Petro about the Colombian treatment of deportations from the United States

In January, US officials sent two illegal illegal foreign flights to their country of origin, although Petro rejected flights, saying that the United States could not “treat Colombian immigrants as criminals.”

In the end, the two countries reached an agreement and resumed deportations, although Petro urged Colombian immigrants to return to the homeland.

Naim admitted the efforts of Colombia to resume the return of immigrants home, adding that the participation of biometric data will make cooperation between the United States and Colombia more efficient.

She said: “We will strengthen our regional security systems and ensure that the movement of actors that threaten illegal activity and facilitate illegal trafficking in immigrants through Western football.” “Through this expansion in sharing biometric data, it will be more efficient, effective and accurate, and will also build cooperation that opens the doors for new ways we can continue to work together.”

The latter said that the memorandum of understanding signed by Nayyu and Sarabia aims to enhance the exchange of immigrant information, while ensuring respect for the dignity and rights of migrants.
