Fed’s Goolsbee warns of impact a shutdown could have on economic data releases

The head of the Federal Reserve at Chicago Austan Golsby said on Tuesday that the central bank will discuss alternative data sources that must be taken into account in its meeting in October if the upcoming economic data is not launched as the potential government is scheduled to be closed.

The government is scheduled to close at 12:01 am US EST on Wednesday if congress fails to agree to extend the financing. The House of Representatives has issued a continuous decision, but efforts have stopped in the Senate as Democrats are pressuring to continue financing health care subsidies stipulated at the end of their validity. The Ministry of Labor will be included, and it will stop all economic data versions in the event of a partial operation.

“The work statistics office is our best data.” “It hurts that we will not get official statistics at exactly a moment when we try to find out that is the economy that is going through a transitional stage.”

It is expected that the Ministry of Labor’s labor statistics office will issue data on the demands of the unemployed on Thursday and September in salaries on Friday. The consumer price index is scheduled to be released for the month of September, which is a wide measure of the amount of daily goods such as gasoline, grocery stores and rental cost, on October 15.

“Recently, Chicago Fed has provided the labor market indicators and what is one of these is 11 different sources of data, some of them from official data, but many of them are from the private sector and predicted in an actual time what the next unemployment will be,” Golsby said.

“Therefore, we will fiercely tend to our employment estimates, on our workers’ demobilization and other separate price estimates and the unemployment rate now if we cannot get official data.”
