Man Applies for Job, Sits for Interview, Then Realizes They’re Trying to Peddle “Mock Interviews With an AI Interviewer”

When a work researcher named Connor recently applied for the position of content, he felt something immediately.
For one reason, he got an offer to a virtual work interview just minutes after progress, which seemed to be a fast shift time in the besieged labor market today. Was there any way a person has already reviewed his request?
When he logged into the interview, he immediately realized that he was talking to the artificial intelligence system, not a human being. This was not the first time that this happened while searching for a job, but this artificial intelligence was especially used: he asked for excessively general questions, temporarily stopped answering it, and refused to provide basic information about this role.
“In comparison with the artificial intelligence that I spoke to, he was not programmed with any company information. Future.
Leave the call confused and profitable. After that, minutes after the conclusion of the “interview”, he received a strange e -mail from the company behind the artificial intelligence interview system, an emerging company called Alex.
“The interviews of artificial intelligence can feel uncommon, but it should not be frightening,” read the message. “The new candidate gate allows you to conduct fake interviews with a tight interview of artificial intelligence. You can train your answers, enjoy more comfort with coordination, and sharpen the presentation skills – all of this in your time.”
Suddenly, Connor felt like he used. Was it the whole trick? If there is a job in the first place, or if it was lost with a fake menu – “ghost function”, in employing a language – designed to withdraw users to get a new product to start operating by reducing through a meaningless interview?
Adding an insult to the injury, the email link led to Alex to an empty white page sticked with words “soon”.
Connor said: “It seems like a new approach to the fraud,” Connor said.
It is right, but Alex turns out to be a millions of dollars in an emerging company founded by the University of Brown’s leaks called John Retel and a former Facebook Ai employee named Aaron Wang.
After graduating from the Yumbinator prominent starting up in the winter of 2024, Alex – then known as “Apriora Ai” – continued to raise $ 2.8 million in a seed tour led in 1984, an investment capital company proud of companies such as SESO, a human resource platform for employing and managing the Mexican National farm.
Although there are virtual interview programs such as Hirevue since 2004, Rytel and Wang say it does not go away enough.
“Current video interview platforms are designed to solve this for companies, but interfaces in one direction and cookies cut off the experience of a disappointing candidate,” they explained in the Yombinator’s launch ad.
They resolved $ 2.8 million? We applied to obtain the same job we conducted by Connor, and we conducted an interview with our own with Alex’s AI, and I felt as if it were the same automatic process from one side that its founders described, except with some artificial intelligence represented in spraying it.
The system was shiny and slow and clearly pushes us with a series of pre -defined questions. As with Conor, Ales AI refused to provide any details about the job or the company that it has been used to employ.
When we asked from artificial intelligence about Alex about the strange show that Connor received about “fake interviews with one of the interviews of artificial intelligence”, she denied that there is any such program.
“I have no knowledge or contact with such services or ads,” he answered.
But when we fell on the interview, we received the same email as Connor.
When we acknowledged the link, we met the same empty page.
Connor told us about the strange experience: “I felt dismay about the interview.” “They just took all my information and did not give me anything about the company.”
“I was like, this is impossible. I just felt, this is not real, and nothing should be taken seriously,” continued. “And even if it is a legitimate presentation, the whole process felt comfortable.”
Connor’s experience is an example of a textbook of the type of alienation that enables a world -bound by an artificial intelligence program. A report issued by the Ludwig Institute for joint economic prosperity found that nearly a quarter of the Americans are “unemployed”, due to a large number of frustrated workers – the people who want to work but those who abandoned the search for a job.
Many of them say they prefer to stay unemployed instead of talking to a robot, describing it as an “additional discontent” of the online job councils. Earlier this year, 62 percent of US job seekers said they would be stopped from applying to a job that uses artificial intelligence recruitment program.
According to the Washington Center for Adble Growth, automatic recruitment systems such as Alex often exclude qualified applicants from finding jobs available otherwise, with confusion between employment companies and job seekers.
There is also an enormous minefield of artificial intelligence discrimination. Tools such as Alex are trained in huge collections of current data, which means that social and economic bias in real life is baked in the program from the beginning. Researchers have already identified the dark consequences for this, and found that artificial intelligence employment programs prefer names associated with white applicants by 85 percent of the time.
In the face of every automation of this employment, a study conducted in February concluded that the applicants who have the most internal referrals-those who belong to well-connected or high-income backgrounds, who were more likely to land from AI platforms.
Alex did not answer questions about this story.
But he eventually replaced the empty page of Barebones, which narrates fake interviews for unreasonable jobs including “Space Tourism Directory”, “Attlical athlete” and “Mayor of Springfield, IL”.
However, when I clicked on the “launch interview” on jobs, the site crashed and we will not allow us to go further.
