‘Flight cancelled!’: Anupam Kher’s IndiGo flight to Khajuraho disrupted; actor shares light hearted reaction
Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher found himself caught in the middle of IndiGo’s ongoing flight outage crisis this weekend. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Kher revealed that his connecting flight from Varanasi to Khajuraho on IndiGo (6E) was unexpectedly cancelled, frustrating his travel plans.
“The flight was cancelled! My grandfather used to say, ‘Never get in trouble twice!'” Khair wrote, tagging the airline in his post. Once by thinking about it, once by facing it!” Came to #Varanasi by @IndiGo6E! Was scheduled to take a connecting flight to #Khajuraho which got cancelled! Disappointed! But decided to give it my best! So you will have some nice kachori/chat/gulab jamun. And will also pray at #Vishwanath ji temple! Har har Mahadev!”
Kher’s light-hearted reaction to the inconvenience was met with sympathy and amusement from fans – many of whom are currently affected by the cancellation of flights across the domestic IndiGo network.
Operational status of IndiGo
More than 100 IndiGo flights were canceled from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on December 15, as dense fog and adverse weather conditions severely disrupted air traffic in the national capital. A thick layer of smog blanketed the Delhi-NCR region early Monday morning, significantly reducing visibility and impacting flight operations across northern India.
IndiGo said its airport teams are continuously working to assist passengers and stabilize operations amid weather-related challenges.
“The reduced visibility (below minimum), due to dense fog, has severely impacted operations at Delhi and other airports across northern India, which is unfortunately beyond our control. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Delhi airport authorities in line with established safety protocols,” the airline said in a statement.
The transport company warned that the disruptions could continue throughout the day. “As operations adapt to prevailing weather conditions, some flights may be delayed while others may be proactively canceled to prioritize safety and reduce extended waits at airports. Customers are informed in advance to minimize inconvenience, and we request them to regularly check the status of their flights via our website or mobile app, as subsequent delays may also occur,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.
The airline also confirmed that refunds for flights canceled between early and mid-December are currently being processed, with full change and cancellation fee waivers for affected passengers.
IndiGo’s operations have faced continued pressure over the past few weeks, with widespread cancellations and delays affecting thousands of travelers across the country. The airline, which typically operates more than 2,000 flights per day, is working to restore normal service levels following operational challenges linked to staffing restrictions and amendments to pilot duty regulations.
